Amarnath was one of our high class test and one day player. Great Cricketing brain and was very sincere while playing for the country. The current Indian players and country should have greatly benefited from him as Indian coach. This Shastri and all is low class cricketer compared to Amarnath.Shastri quality is that he speak good English and he is master of butter and soap. Crooks like him is directing the Indian cricket,I hate his attitude.

now he is extolling mohinders virtues. in his book 'idols' gavaskar has accused amarnath of having no team spirit and one who was unwilling to share prize money among his team mates. when amarnath refused to share the prize awarded to him with his team mates gavaskar said that with that one statement amarnath destroyed the team spirit of the indian team.

But then, it was only gavaskar who was supporting amarnath. All the other panelists incl ravi shastri were in favour of a foreign coach and so they voted him out.

and shastri and other panelists were aboslutely correct. with the experimentation and discipline that greg chappel brought in indian team it only helped us. if many of the next generation palyers are established and made their prsence felt like gambhir, dhoni, raina, kohli praveen etc. it is only because of greg who insisted on infusing young blood inthe indian team. we hmay have lost 2007 wc but we won this wc becuase of greg policy of including young blood in indian team.

Do u think, that for every forward step that we make, there should be one in the opposite direction. As india has now won the world cup, its time that we must finish last in the next year's edition. On that theory greg is ideal choice.
Gavaskar has made an important point. The core group comprises Yuvraj, Dhoni, Sachin, Gambhir, Zaheer Khan, Raina, Sehwag, Munaf, Nehra, Virat Kohli, Dravid and Laxman. With exception of Laxman, nobody would have trouble understanding Hindi. Moreover Gavaskar is right about Amarnath. He was a fighter cricketer and can really help with the mindsets of likes of Rohit Sharma on how to work hard to make a comeback.
There was a need for foreign coaches in the past because Indians needed fresh ideas and work ethic to win matches.
Now Indian team has well functional systems in place, they know how to win. Its about managing their resources well, which Mohinder Amarnath could well do.
With all due respect for Mr. Gavaskar (and I have a lot of it), this seems political. Why? Exhibit: Sunny & Duncan don't have a testy past ever since, Nasser Hussain's Englad team toured India & got away with a drawn series by bowling wide off the off stump & frustrating India's batsmen. Sunny called that English team boring. Exhibit B: Sunny was probably not given adequate notice about the fact that the BCCI had chosen Fletcher. So, the Little Master's making his presence felt by making noises in the same media (from where he probably found out about the appt). As for Mr. Amarnath, he's interviewed for the coach's job almost everytime since 2000 and everytime been found wanting. After all, he's the one who, back in 2000 famously declared that all this obsession with this 'computer, fomputer' is a passing fad. Let's give Fletcher a chance & then pass judgment.
