If People ask Bharat Ratna to Tendulkar then asking Padmasree to Gari is not surprising.

Does Sachin (as person not as cricketer) deserves a Barath ratna
by ALbert ArulPrakashRajendran on Apr 09, 2011 09:05 AM  | Hide replies

what was the biggest achievement which was made by Sachin for this country. Is winning a world cup is the greatest achievement. people please understand, a Barath ratna must be given to those who achieved something which makes India proud in Global area. There are lot other important things to do other than watching the match fixed cricket.

I totally agree with you. Bharat Ratan for what? scoring 18 runs in final match. since india won world cup I observed everyone recomending sachin name for Bharat Ratan, there are other 10 players & 1.2 Billion people behind india victory. not only one man...

In the world of cricket in India, yes, he has given a great bench mark and a new vision to the youth. People all over the world have started respecting and to an extent fearing team India. So I would say he should be given 'Khel Ratna' award. But about 'Bharat Ratna' I have my reservations. He has earned crores of rupees for playing and advertising. If he would have done it only for passion and not for money, then yes, he should have been given 'Bharat Ratna' ! That is my personal opinion.

I never quiet understood why we want our heroes to be selfless and why every on e treats making money as a sin.If I have to put anand lines a Bharat Ratna should be a poor guy he should never accept money for what he does so that we can Oh!!! poor guy he is such a role model for our kids. We want our kids to grow poor and devoted. Sachin has been in limelight for 20 some years in a cricket crazy nation. Has carried expectations of so many people. We are not talking about validity of those expectation or retrospects of it. Just because we have wrong expectation does not make that expectation to vanish. Sachin more than met it and set a standard for future legends. To add it he has so maintained public dignity and humility something i would love my kids to grow upto. Every were in world there are sports stars but not every where a legend survives 20 yrs of scrutiny by 1 billion people and still meets every one's expectatoin and not loose his head because of the adulation. It is sad that we are still living in hangover of 60's and 70's when an Indian would work hard and not get his dues in form a life which is reminicent of his hard work. As I do admire them I find comments of sahil , albert and anand pretty fool hardy to say the least.

did not announce the cash prize to Gary of the same amount as those given to the fifteen players, even some of them who just warmed the benches. What do you say about that?

Did GOI or BCCI openly and suitably honoured the outgong coach? What do you say about that?

Please keep your Padmashri for yourself. In India every Tom, Dicky and Harry can get it.
