Sri Lankans have gone mad !
by ASIM MEHTANI on Apr 06, 2011 05:02 PM  | Hide replies

All These Srilankans have gone mad by tendering resignations. There is no point of giving resignations. Tendering the resignations only means here to get the WC by hook or by crook. This should not be the case. The game should be played with real spirit, and winning and losing are part of the lives. So why to be panic ?

Sri Lanka did very well
by Adi Mehta on Apr 06, 2011 04:58 PM

Sri Lanka played extremely well to reach the final. Even in the final they played like champions but it's just that India played much better. Players like Sanga, Mahela and Mallinga are all world-class. They have nothing to feel ashamed about. They have reached two consecutive finals. Maybe the disappointment of losing the second final in a row is too much to bear. But they need to rise from it. They are a good team and they have always played excellent cricket in the true spirit of the game.

A pattern is emerging....
by anjani patnaik on Apr 06, 2011 04:55 PM  | Hide replies

I have a strong feeling that 1.2 billion people in INDIA have been taken for a ride. There were certain observations made which were highly CONTROVERSIAL...
1)Sachins 4 drop catches
2)Lackadaisical approach towards the run chase by Misbah & Afridi
3)Congress would have come under severe pressure if pakistan would have lifted the trohy in MUMBAI. The dossier of 26/11 is still open and it would have been like rubbing salt on the wounds of Mumbaikars .Congress succeeded in persuading their pakistani counterparts on the IMPORTANCE of loosing the match, to avoid an ugly scenario of mounting international pressure in the wake of pakistan emerging VICTORIOUS
4)Huge money was at stake on IPL. It would have bombed if INDIA didnot emerge champions this year.
5)Four changes in the final line up ? Some of them were not even in the original Sri Lanka squad?Even a school boy would know that this was disaster from the word go? Why was Ajantha Mendis not played??? Many would argue that indians read spin well..but i guess even the lankans must have followed the match against pakistan and the problem ajmal and hafiz caused with their 'doosras'
6) Arjuna ranatunga was very angry, with the president interfering in the selection process
7)Mr Mallaya was observed in the box with Mr President of Sri Lanka at the eve of semi final clash between new zealand & sri lanka ..what the hell was he doing there??

To be contd...

Leadership Quality
by hariharan iyer on Apr 06, 2011 04:55 PM

The reason these guys are resigning is because these cricketers are so committed that they think they have failed in their leadership by not winning in the finals. Followers will follow the winners and not the losers. They have set a right example. A lesson for some of our leaders too. They kept failing with never resigned from the leadership. Wish the Ministers too follow this.

Resignation
by KOSHY K on Apr 06, 2011 04:34 PM  | Hide replies

Why are these guys resigning just like that.
It is a proffession and a sport and winning and loosing is a part of the game. I think Srilanka being a small country and with little infrstructure has done exceedingly well.
They are all very passionate to this game and we all enjoyed their cricket.

See this is not for result they had but the result they want in next wc. They have done rightly as he can't be captain in next wc and let the new captain has some experience and learn to lead WC. But we indian don't do it until we have been pushed out because he get money

They played very well and gave tough fight for Indians. Performance from India was required in Session to Session.
Just think how tough they will be in ensuing world cup, the preparation for which has started on day immediately the closure of world cup of 2011

Sri lanka needs services of Saga for next 4 years as captain. He did a wonderful job & loosing to a better team in final is no crime. This will lead to total demoralization & new person will find it even more difficulty in managing the show.

Resignation enmasse
by SUNDAR K on Apr 06, 2011 04:27 PM

It is common for losing captains and vice captains to quit. It is upto the board to repose faith in their players. After all, on any given day the team that performs better wins the game so it is nothing surprising
