Tricky call. I would give him an extended run through this series and see if he comes out this rut. If he doesnt, he needs to give way to other options in RSA. Hope he does.
I think gauti should take some time off from international cricket and get some runs in first class cricket. He is a class act and he should be back soon
i dont know y der shud b a cap of 14 players for a playing 11. if futbal can hav 22 players crickt also can at least 17-18 players. players can b rotated according to der form, rather than continuing lean patches.
remember der used to b 17 players in the squad sometime back whn bcci had not evn had decent bank balance. now since they r filthy rich they want to cut down on plaers air fare or wat.
or is it the harebrained icc's idea the cap of 14 players

Hey when Indian team plays in India, 14 players are in team hoping that we can get a replacement easily. But when we play abroad the total team count increases to 16. This has been for years.
Gambhir has done a fine job for our country in the past few years but we should also see him as any other normal player of cricket who can go through a lean patch. And it is a fact that sometimes rest for a few games can work wonders for you and also strengthen your bench. I suggest rest him for few games maybe up till the first test in South Africa and give Vijay another chance.
Performance is the last in the national team. May I know what is the average score of our Captain Sahab Dhoni Dhamaka in the one day, 20:20, and test matches in last couple of series against different countries? But, Gambhir is a different case. He is really technically solid batsman and we can excuse him last few matches as his BAD PATCH. He is very intelligent and reads the cricket game with clever eyes.
i hope Gambhir should be rested in rest matches now.presently Murali Vijay is the best option for team india now.Since last match played by him against mighty AUSSIE was excellent.
When he was coring runs, he was talking as if he has been doing it his entire life. Now as he has hit a bad patch, I hope he does a Sachin - keep his mouth shut and let his bat do the talking - rather than a Harbhajan.

I fully support your views. I remember about 3 - years back he was given so many chances but when playng at international level he fell cheaply. I really felt sympathy for him as I thought he was a good player and with humble manners. However, after some success he started to wide open his mouth and now see the situation. I think he should not be so proudy. This is a lesson for others including Sehwang as he already experienced in the past.
