yes, i am at one with you. Like Gavaskar, Sachin also made some useless tons and piled huge runs but could not save India from terrible defeat barring one or two. But then Gundappa vishwanath was there in the time of Gavaskar, who is being rated the far far better batsman than Gavaskar and he saved India many times at the time of crisis. I can still remember that score board used to move (slowly or fast)so long vishwanth on the wicket with the bat. The great Vishwanth never played for record and he was always watched by the present spectators with great respect and always left the ground after getting out holding his head down (be it 0 score or 150 score). We never saw any reaction from Vishwanath. But he was far far better class batsman than Gavaskar. In these days Sachin has taken place of Gavaskar who believes in lifeless, useless, thousands of scores most of which came from dead game. Sachin rarely contributed in the winning inngings of India. At the of crisis Sachin fared badly most times he got out cheaply. But surprisingly in the case of LAXMAN, it is observed that he is always out cheaply when India went on scoring high with the help of other talented cricketers but HE (LAXMAN)always stood firm when the indian team is in great crisis and a clean defeat is offig. But these times Laxman mostly made some gallent innings which will remain immvaluable ever in the history of indian cricket. This kind of incidence took place several times in the life of LAXMAN who a

beautifully expressed. I am the fan of Gundappa Vishwanath. Watching him play is like reading a good poetry like Wordsworth/Shelley or Keats poem. Just magnificient. He is one of the rare breed of cricketers who never bothered about records. Such batsman you will find once in a blue moon. He is really a genius. I always remember how he use to execute his square cut with bended knees. A great batsman indeed. Youngsters should learn a lot from him. Lakshman is also in the same mould like the great Vishwanath. thanks for reminding him in this forum.

Gambir of course. Vijay is and will be treated as a drink boy with some replacement chances only. Gambir's single digit scores are more worth than three digit scores of Vijay....

vijay only a T-20 player u cant rate him yet. Also gautam was worlds best last year, he is recovering fr. injuries since few mnths.will be back in form sooner than later
Re: Re: Should be rested...

If he is injured, then let him rest to recover... If he is out of form, let him regain his form by playing Ranji matches... National team is not a place to regain form...Even if M Vijay is a T20 player, he is playing better than the former at present...Dont forget that Sehwag even after hitting a triple hundred was out of team when he was out of form...

Before being so harsh on Gambhir, put yourself in his shoes for a while. You have a bad patch in your office and the management thinks to replace you with a junior. Will all the above argument hold still in your case? And now do not deivate the topic by answering "is it the case with you"?

we prefer pujara in the place Raina as the team can not rely on Raina & Dhoni. Dhone of course as a captain he is continuing. otherwise he would have gone out

Dear Shalil, If you are talking about Puzara, sure he is better test player then Raina. But Yuvi, never, he is not test player and you can't think anybody like Yuvraj to take place of Dravid. Jago neend se jago

pl dont bring in bhajji. he id a match winner whatever he does batting or bowling
Having scored just 86 of 9 innings, is Gambhir not already resting while the likes of Laxman, Sachin etc have been working hard and scoring tons of runs? ...and rediff is recommending that Gambhir be given even more rest!!!
Re: Is he not already resting?
by Shali Magar on Nov 11, 2010 09:22 AM
gambir is 29 dravid dravid is 38, for gods sake dont compare the two. as dravid is finidhing hid career and gautam is half way barely. he was worlds best cricketer in 08-09. dont u think he desrves better , he shd be given a break to gt back in his form. thats it and please dont compare him with vijay who is 20-t player and not inthe same class as gambhir or anyone else in the team
