Building museum, status and giving national awards is no use. There are many issue to look after like Inflation, Education and Security to look after.
Yes we are proud of our heros in every field.

Maharashtra Govt is doing all this. No doubt Sachin is unmatchable and living legend.
But in what condition Maharashtra people's are there is no time for govt. to check this. Rural areas water supply is Once in a Week Power supply is only for 7-8 hrs. a day.
Politicians thinking making cities like Mumbai & Pune will give pride to state.
This is not reality.........Very rapidly Maharashtra is becoming next Bihar.

When we have a living legend in our mist who deserves that honour; Kasab, to be precise.
Also make a documentary to honour Ruk Ruk Khan, Dawood Ibrahim, Ansari etc who've graudated from the Kangress Instititue of Filth (Maharashtra Wing) & have done India proud......

It is at least better than building Khushboo or Rajnikanth's temples.

by Chat on Mar 26, 2010 11:10 AM  | Hide replies

Congress govt in Maharashtra is also doing the religion based politics. Check ydays budget of maha. govt. , many many funds for Hindu religion worship places on the name of tourism developement etc. Now this new theory of museum of individual cricket player. Why thrs nothing for those 106 people who surrendered their lives for getting Mumbai in Mharashtra.

My question :
by satish jadhav on Mar 26, 2010 11:04 AM  | Hide replies

"The champion batsman, a former Indian captain, has scored a phenomenal 13, 447 runs, including 47 centuries, in 166 Tests while he has aggregated 17,598 runs and slammed 46 centuries in 442 ODIs."
But with all this, has it helped the State or Country to stop the suicide of poor farmers or job opportunities for needy?
No.But Probably it would have helped the Dancing Girls in IPL matches to make some quick extra buks.

why the same rule was not applied for Sunil Gavaskar. He also scored the maximum centuries & he was the first in the history of test cricket to score 10,000 runs. Why only Sachin's museum & nothing for Gavaskar.

You don't think the IPL generates jobs? The stadium owners hire people for various activities (cleaning, food, security etc).

As far as farmer suicides go, what have you done about it? Have you helped out one needy farmer? No, I'm sure. But you come to such websites and act "holier than thou". If you care so much, why don't you try to help? Set aside 20 percent of your income for such people, and go help them. No, all you can do is talk.

This is capitalism. If you have a service, skill or talent that others have a use for, it is bought and you make money. If not, it is not and you remain unemployed and poor. We tried 40 yrs of socialism and it kept everybody poor.

IPL is not a social service. However, it pays taxes to the government who is supposed to help these poor and needy people. This question should be directed not to IPL or SRT, but your state and central government.

The prince of wales museum in bombay is renamed after Shivaji. Savarkar and Tilak have roads, airports and bridges named after them. SRT will never get that.

Don't just blame the Cong. He has received numerous felicitations from the BJP government for being a batsman just marginally better than his competition (Ponting, Lara, Dravid, etc). Why? Because he's non controversial. Try making a Narendra Modi vastu sangrahalaya in Ahmedabad or Sonia Gandhi Museum. It's a sure way of antagonizing voters. So, pick someone nobody would really take offence to... SRT is such a person. Rahul Dravid's achievements in tests are no less than Tendulkar's. Dravid has played a decade less than tendulkar, and his record is comparable to Ponting's but who gives him credit? Because he's not a legend. Nobody will care if Dravid gets an award or museum. Lots of people will love nothing mroe than an SRT museum.

It's just politics. Do what most people would not take offence to.

Not warranted
by kskumar on Mar 26, 2010 11:01 AM

Sachin is the great player and he is a model for others, be it in sports or his conduct off the field.

But this proposal appears to be a bit too much. So far we have seen politicians naming streets and areas after themselves, unveiling their own statues etc. Let not the Government lower his dignity with such acts.

Is this a Need ?
by Critics on Mar 26, 2010 10:56 AM  | Hide replies

In state like ours were farmers are suiciding, kids are dying due poverty. Government in deficit and they want to spend crores to build museum. Is this a need. If they want to honor Tendulkar they should spend on poor, and also ask Tendulkar to contribute this will be a great honor where people will bless him. They will allocate 100crore for this, and spent 10 crore. This is all a different game.
