it is amaizing that most prope are biased. POnting did well over a nimber of years. no doubt. purely by average ponting is better. but dravid is teh unsung hero who is teh best test player of the decade. certainly not sachin bhai.

go n check records...undoubtedly umpires decisions hd been against sachin den any oder batsman in d world...sachin is d player of century n ponting is most controversial player of century.ponting is a successful captain bcz of his gud bowling attack. compare sachin n ponting in any ind aus series n u wl get d answer who is the best... ponting is worst n arrogant player ever...even a poll in australia itself tells the same story of ponting behaviour... dravid is far better... comparision wid sachin is a joke...

1)Sachin body language is like he like back door attitude whereas Pointing front door attitude. 2)Sachin appears nervous,shy,not willing to come up with views to public and media(very careful)-Poining is free attitude type, bold,courageous,comes up to public and media with views. 3)Sachin has no role of leading team- no command,no control of team,no regular suggestions,no regular advises,no risk,no tension,no criticism whereas Poinint leads the team,control the team , organise the team,wins for country with team support,gives regular suggesons,advises,risk involvment,lots of tension,criticism etc., 4)Sachin begs for a place and also to play him as opener in ODI whereas Pointing commands his place and also commands right of his position.

Ponting smashed unbeaten 140 and Tendulkar got out for 4,if ur best batsmen u cant expect to play a bowling attack of Srilanka or ZIMBABwe everyday,take on Mcgrath and co andwin the game for India in a final like that or else admit ur not good
The award was for Player of the Decade not the Batsman of the decade. If the Award was meant for Batsman of the Decade, the why it was named Player of the Decade.
What is the point of bringing these stats of batsman only?
Do not force you brainless mind and Go and borrow brain from someone and think again why Murali, Warne, Macgrath --all bowlers- are there in the list.
The point is jury gave winning of world cup too much weightage, proof--Gilly being ahead of great bolwers like Murali and Macgrath, and Warne.

In 2003 word cu final, did Mcgrath not take the wicket of Sachin or that matter did the Aussi bowler not make it impossible for Indian batsman to score 350 runs?
Look on the other hand, what did our bowlers do? Zaheer, Sreenath, Nehra all fed lolly pops not only to Ponting but to Hayden, Gilly, which allowed them to make a score of around 350 runs.

If Sachin can be called great for that desert storm 1998 where there was no Mcgrath or a Ponting innings or the pressure of a WCUP final chase..then admit he is a loser under pressure,especially in WCUPS he flopped against AUS in
WCUP 1992 WCUP 1999 WCUP 2003 Finals
and thank god he didnt face them again in 2007
go check the scores of all wcups sachin faced against AUS,he played well only in 1996 wCUP and that was in his home groudn Mumbai...

@LG, the guy had scored most no. of runs in this decade,had won 2 WC and 2 CT as a captain .....I don't know what more he had to do to become player of the decade...

please also see number of matches played... In ODI Tendulkar is best beyond any doubt...In Tests ponting is best.... becoz old players gives more preference to test cricket i.e. why they have choosen ponting as best player of the decade.... Other pointd that we should keep in mind is that Ponting has played under no pressure at all being other players in his were greats... on ther hand tendulkar had to play more in under pressure than ponting.....

Good statistics but you have forgotten to mention the number of wickets taken by Kallis compared to others, which would actually qualify Kallies as the true cricketer of decade.

wrong . its harbhajan. i mean he is playing on his reputation for 12 years now. only one performance against australia at home and he was made star by media.
Ponting is a good batsman. His performance has been excellent for the past decade. Australia play more test matches than other counties. Their favourite opponents are England which is not so strong team. Comparison between Ponting and other players are irrelevant. If Sachin ,Dravid played for Australia, they would played more tests, ODI and also performed better.
