Chosen
by Junior Don on Jan 15, 2010 12:54 AM

Chosen by few but not supported by anyone, not even statistics.

I also chose myself, greatest batsman, but my statistics say 1 century, and Sachin's 90 centuries. Is their any value for your choice????? only statistics are truth.

Statistics: Sachin 90 centuries, Ponting 60 centuries. A looooooong way to go Mr. Ponting.

Re: Chances Sachin squandered in the big stage

If u take India Vs AUS head to head record,AUS have beaten us fair and square, and have dominated wcricket for over 2 decades, compared to our 1 wcup win to their 4 wins, its very obvious that media and indian(fanatics, not genuine fans)are way too biased..
If u think Ponting is a brat what about Bhajji who beats his own team mate and all the internal politics in team india
a average player like Gambhir comes out and bad mouths the system after a good year with the bat, then starts flopping, this attitude is what ruins our players
Dhoni is the one gentleman plus great player who walks the talk
He is in the KapilDev mould. He is really a great batsmen and a leader..
but all others talk when they perform like Sehwag,Yuvi(he is bowling better than bat these days),Bhajji,Gauti,Sree kuttan(after that 5 wicket haul all u can see is his teary eyes and sad face after being hit all over the ground)

Ponting is like Bheema in Mahabaratha, arrogant bad boy with lot of talent and power, his smashing India in 2003 wcup was like Bheema massacaring Dushasana..total humiliation

I must say that I am 100% with Pandavas in your epic writing. I feel so sad when people question about this honor to Ricky Ponting. I mean since you have personal hatred or jealousy still you cannot question this man's credibility as a batsman. Ricky Ponting is great.

Yes ur right,he is a Pandava,he has taken their team to great heights, even after Retirement of Warne,Mcgrath,Gilly and Hayden he won Champs trophy like how Bheema killed all 100 kaurava brothers singlehandedly

Ponting is not one of those who wants to please the media and Indian public to get the coach post or commentary in IPL,he wants to win for Aussies,to win 2 wcups without losing a single game is too good to be ignored...

He has scored lots and lots of runs, that too coming one down not opening in ODIs and those who question his class compared to sachin should again and again watch that 140 in WCUp 2003 finals,u dont play many finals but for Ponting and co a final is as easy as Tendulkar scoring a 100 against Walegedara or Angele Mathews or those new face Slanka medium pacers

Sachin might have played for 20 years but Ponting who started only in 1995 has accomplished much more...

140 runs in a south african ground in a final,i mean come on...no question AUSSIES are the kings of WCricket, unless someone rule wcricket for 2 decades like they did and win 4 wcups they are the Pandavas of cricket

the reaction in Bhajjis face after every six ponting hit in that final was priceless

Put the losers in their place

Pointing award makes Sachin in dilemma
by km vb on Jan 15, 2010 12:26 AM  | Hide replies

Pointing award makes Sachin in dilemma ?
1)Sachin cannot retire now as public thinks Sachin become nerveous and ashamed himself,so retired.
2)Sachin may continue to play but with shame as even he is highest run scorer and highest century maker in Tests and ODI,he is not recokned for the award but some media commentators always puts him on high thru commentary.
3)Public, media,Ex-players,currents players waiting for a chance, players within team, all are feeling sachin's presence is not worth.
4)Sachin neither can retire now nor can play freely now.
How sachin is going to face from this dilemma ?
Will BCCI announce any award ceremony in near future for sachin to make sachin happy and also to bring it to media and news paper.

Congratulations!!! U sooooooooo deserve this!!
by Priyanka Mutsuddi on Jan 15, 2010 12:13 AM

I will not say you have achieved everything because there is few more trophies for you. You have a great 14 years and whoever says you do not deserve it is absolutely jealous. Facts and stats prefers you obviously and people might say you have 10 more great players in your team which is true because of the great work done by Cricket Australia but they did not came and bat for you. You have fought for each runs that you got.

I am not disputing except for the fact that greatest batsman of all time is probably Sir Donald Bradman because he played only 52 tests matches with absolute perfection and this poll was about greatest player of the decade and obviously Ricky Ponting deserves it. About greatest all rounder Jaques Kallis is also exceelent. Spot on with greatest fielder and fast bowler,, well I think Glen Mcgrath is as much good as Wasim Akram but he did not have that kind of pace, though he helped Australia win more matches.

Thanks .. you may be right .. Bradman is great... Still Bradman only played against England and South Africa ... where as Richards played almost all cricket playing nations in all conditions ... but ok what you are saying also may be correct ...about Imran Khan ..he was not only greatest of all rounder ... but great leader ... it was impossible task to unite team like pakistan and win world cup ...Shane warne ..no doubt ..no competition for him ...

Ponting is the best
by Srinivasan Ashok on Jan 14, 2010 11:46 PM  | Hide replies

This guy lead the team that won 2 world cups and still he keeps his team number one spot in ODI despite their top bowlers retired. Remember, How he dominated Indian bowlers during world cup final in SAF. Some guys are talking about Indian players and tell me how many times Indian team won the world cup after sachin played for India. I agree, Sachin is like Laura and he is a great player but the team is not a champion team.
