India is best team in terms of sports spirit & decipline
by chetan gandhi on Jan 15, 2010 06:36 PM

The statement Ian chappell made clearly shows his frustation. These Autrailians are only aggresive in talking sledging not in cricket & VVS laxman, Tendulkar & Harbhajan have prooved it. This Ian chappell is nonsense just want to play mind game nothing else.

aussies are bad losers
by ROBY STEPHEN on Jan 15, 2010 01:44 PM

One of the worst sides as far as spirit of the game is concerned is aussies and this syndrome spreads over current , retired and even upcoming australians. They are a good side but not the best but they can't digest this fact . They have never learnt to take defeat in the right spriti of the game and as a team and as individual players ,a total disgrace to the gamesmanship. This Ian Chappell was part of a good team but always used to have frustration as their ally since the then West Indies used to smash them left , right and center and when Australia became No1 team much later n the recent years, now they are unwilling to forego the status and it is that frustration that is showing on this silly old man. leave him to his fate.

India need good bowlers ,Australia need character certificate
by True Indian on Jan 14, 2010 02:41 PM

The whole of Australian team is a bunch of abusive people. They need some school lessons on discipline. These hooligans will ruin the gentleman game.

bcciteamndia is No.1 in test by chance because of power and money. bcciteamndia team gets the benefit of that. Otherwise such poor fielding and bowling can never make bcciteamndia to reach that spot, otherwise to me it's a village team with thirdclass fielding and blowing hahahahahaha.

star bowler
by Arvind Sharma on Jan 13, 2010 12:01 PM  | Hide replies

Earlier India had star bowlers like Kapil and Kumble. Still the team failed to grab the No. 1 spot (official or otherwise). This shows that mere presence of star bowlers is not sufficient for consistently good performances. If the four or five bowlers are able to take two or three wickets each then the need for depending on star bowlers is not there.

Sharma:

If your so called bowlers take 3 wickets each they WILL be start bowlers.
If someone plays 100 tests and takes 300 wickets, he is a star bowler, don't you think so? :)

India attaining No 1 status
by Nepo Raj on Jan 13, 2010 09:17 AM  | Hide replies

Mr Chappell has a valid point about ourpresent team lacking STAR bowlers who can win matches single handedly. However, we need to understand that we are not playing Tennis or Raquet ball this is a team sport and if collective strength of our bowling unit can more than compensate for a STAR bowler as it does now why worry. Do not get me wrong I am for having STAR bowlers... I am confident Dhoni would concur. If I remember correctly unitl recently these very pundits did not like the Indian team for it was made up of only STARS and not playing as a team unlike AUS, SA and Eng. Also, not to miss, lately this constant chatter about No 1 is no longer valid anymore...even Warnie!!! suprisingly we did not hear this when South Africa took the mantle albeit briefly... hmmm I wounder???? is it India becoming no 1 that bothers these western pundits?

Nepo Raj,

India has been #1 on paper in the past also. I do not know what do you mean by being #1. As far as I know, being #1 is being much better than rest.

Is India much better team than rest? NO.

Sorry pal.. you got it dead wrong. The batting team can compensate somewhat for the inadequacies of the bowling team. But if the gap is too great, they are just as helpless.
