First innings deficit was too much to handle: Dhoni

The remarks of the captain is very pathetic. Insstead of commenting upon the shortcomings of his batsmen, bowlers and fielders he takes shelter under some lame excuses that it was a good toss to win and the opponent batsmen and bowlers played well. If so, what for the cricketing bunch branded as 'India' went to SA. One who sees the poor strokes of indian batsmen in the Ist innings will know that they are unfit even to play street cricket. Not even a single batsman adapted to the pitch condition. It is all due to their reckless batting and bowling. Qualaity wise our batsmen and bowlers are substandard especially in bouncing tracks such as in SA, Australia and New Zealand. Who bothers about records. Only win or loss counts. The big loss could also be achieved by a team consisting of youngsters. It is better that Shewag, Tandulkar, Rahul, Harbajan, Lakshman and even Dhoni retire from cricket. This will pave way for youngsters who are waiting in the wings. In my view this game is played only to make the already rich old cricketers to become further richer. I am very sorry for this comment which has come from my heart.

India always falter in the first match on overseas tours. So, let us wait and watch the second game and arrive at a conclusion. Moreover, Unadkat and Raina need to be replaced by Zaheer and Pujara. However, this series will decide the stand of India as no 1 test team.

The people who u want to retire r the people who atleast played some cricket. Where r the youngsters... what did raina or unadkat or ishant or srisanth do?.except giving load of runs.. atleast the little master had the guts to face the SA bowlers... It is actually Sachin versus SA. Sorry, but our youngsters have given us away.

Radhakrishnan:

Very well said.... youngsters should follow Raina's superlative effort of getting out near about 1 run per inning and stop following Sachin...

That WILL ensure that your favourite South Africa starts winning by an innings and 300 runs instead of a mere 25.... right? :)

Even if he had done that, India would have still lost the match. There was so much time remianing in the match that a defeat was inevitable. So, i would not hold that agianst Tendulkar

Just Ridiculous
by rajashi ghosh on Dec 20, 2010 05:09 PM  | Hide replies

It was ridiculous to see the media go gaga over tendulkar's 50th hundred when the team was heading for a huge defeat. Yes, tendulkar is a great player and his records are unmatched, but surely country comes first and tendulkar scoring his 50th hundred can not be more important than India losing the test match in this fashion. I feel that there is too much hype around Tendulkar. Would want to know if there is so much importance given to Federer in Switzerland, Nadal in Spain, Schumacher in Germany and Michael Jordan in US.

So because 10 other Indians failed yet again, proves that Tendulkar did NOT score his 50th century?

What "logic"... :)

He still gets media attention. Afterall he was the only batsman in the team... due respevts to dravid, dhoni, sehwag who tried to play in the 2nd innings... Lacchu bhaiya is again a flop. He plays well only againt aussies it seems

Dhoni should be stripped off captaincy only for his losing toss repeatedly.

Dhoni played a cracker of an innings in the 2nd innings and showed a lot of courage. He was undone by a gem of a delivery. So, i don't think you can hold him responsible.

Re: Re: Shame

good batsmen in form can defend those gems and reamain not out. You mean to say Sachin did not get any gem of a delivery. Being captain he has added responsibility. Do not talk about gems. There are many gems with keeping gloves waiting to replace him. If he looses captaincy he may loss his place in the team also.

MS Dhoni the worst
by SKM Prasad on Dec 20, 2010 05:07 PM

Useless Dhoni,

Stage is always bumpy or jagged for the guys who don’t know how to dance. Same thing is applicable to you DHONI….

You are doing nothing for HINDUSTAN…spoiling its name..

Its all because of corrupted BCCI / SRIKANT..

We need talented captains like KAPIL DEV / SAURAV GANGULY…..

Captain's failure
by Viswanathan on Dec 20, 2010 05:06 PM

With Zaheer out of the first test and Harbajan not bowling as well as he should he should have played Ojha instead of a third seamer. Also he should have stuck to his pre match thinking of playing Pujara ahead of Raina who has become jittery after his failures against New Zealand.
