Still media is full of cricket news
by Ram Sharma on Dec 20, 2010 04:58 PM  | Hide replies

Our media is too biased towards cricket. Though we were on verge of a big defeat by an innings and more, there was celebration as Sachin scored his 50th test century. Such madness can b seen only in our cricket crazy nation.

Cricket is not at all a competitive game, as except Indian sub-continent, it is not popular anywhere and is played only in few other countries like UK, Australia, N Zealand, S Africa, Zimbabwe, Kenya, West Indies & Holland. In these other countries other games r also very popular - like football, hockey, swimming, athletics, tennis, badminton, volley ball etc. In sport super powers of China, USA, Russia, Europe (except UK & Holland) etc don't know about this game. Hence excelling in cricket does not impress anyone internationally except in a few countries. Getting a medal in Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and Olimpic is far far superior to winning a cricket match. Still our cricketers mint crores of rupees. Cricket has become a big business in the country financing even foreign cricketers. Though players of other games don't get even good infrastructure or trainers.

on last day instead of facing all the deliverer's sachin made Sreesanth and Unadkat face all tha balls ..the 30runs where easily achievable ..atlest we could have saved a innings defeat ..

dear Dhantannan,
in the game against though lakshman scored 72, it was ishanth who faced 3/4 of the deliveries in that partenership. he managed to surive that many balls and lakshman scored his runs, here the tail enders cudnt survive, is that sachin problem? so next time b4 u start criticing someone, pls check the facts also. its easy to ctiticise sum one who achieved dis much, but its very hard to accept their g8nes.

What you quoted was just one example Sir, VVS has won games with tail enders over 10 times, each time it wasnt Ishant either. So how come when VVS bats tail enders get inspired to stay at crease and not get out, but when others bat same tail enders cant perform???

what does it tell you about class of player and how he can inspire folks??

Please try to understand Mr Schin is Gavaskar's chela. The guru always went for personal glory. In a 60 over world cup ODI, he scored 36 not out opening the innings and now a days making millions commentating on his Chela's glory. So chela has learned grom guru how to make personal glory while the team in peril. It is noteworthy how many innings he played where India became glorious. Not to speak much. True champions and Laxman and Kumble who won the most matches with individual brilliance. Sachin is no match to them for individual glory.
