Ponting team came India and won in INdia.. Sachin team never won in AUS...Not a single WC... So ponting better. Sachin is an excellent stat maker . Example: India Aus series in 2003-2004, Sachin made a slow 200 where India could have won if he has played a fast attacking innings. He failed in the 3 innings before by giving slip catches, so he didnt even atempt a shot on halfside, played completely on Onside and made 200..In the end match ended in a draw. Everybody blamed Parthiv Patel for dropping steve waugh catch, but he is the real culprit.

ask ponting to win now wc or ashes. captain cannot shine with a weak team. he can onmy improvise a bit but cannot keepwinning unless he has a strong team

Small correction: In 2004, Australia did win a test series in India, however Adam Gilchrist and not Ponting captained Australia in the tests they won. Ponting captained Australia in only one test in that series, and India won that test.
If Sachin would not have made that 200 at Sydney. India would have lost that test. I am sure you would agree that a draw is better than a defeat. India got enough time to bowl Australia out in that test.
