Very unsporting
by SR Hari on Aug 17, 2010 09:38 AM

By the SL team and Suraj Randiv in particular. They all should realise that it is because of India and BCCI, that SL cricket gor revived few years ago.

It is unfortunate that Sri Lanka continues to have anti-India feeling to the core. They should realise that India is helping them in so many ways even today. When Tsunami hit, it was Indian Navy which reached them first to help, not the Chinese who are being encouraged by Sri Lanka to grow in that region (which is against the interests of India). When Lanka was boiling due to LTTE problems, once again India helped them.

Sanga (who used to be one of my fav players) is proving to be an immatured, arrogant captain. Let us hope better sense prevail upon him and his team, quickly.

why is everybody talking randiv's no-ball issue???randiv didn't violate any rules of the game??no he didn't!!!As long as he violated any rules or conduct of the game he should be criticized, simple matter is randiv didn't want a batsman to score a century agnst his side..

If poeple are so upset abt randiv's no-ball wat abt the tricks fielding side do when one tail ender and a regular batsman are on the crease,is not the fielding team tries their heart out to make sure tail ender faces max no of balls???for that they even field with lackluster attitude to give a single to a regular batsman, shouldn't that be counted as a spirit of cricket violation???

had it been right spirit, Randiv must have tried to out him to deny century against the team, rather than following lawfull but non sportsmanship method,
matters to country win but matters to individual statics

Randiv is a BIG LOSER. Why discuss about him. He should have been penalized (% of his match fee) for such lousy behaviour.

Randiv is being criticized because he bowled no-ball deliberately.. how strange a bowler of his run-up who din't bowl a single no-ball in test series bowled a noball that TOO of 1 foot margin.. it speaks of his sportsmanship.

how abt when a fielding side gives an easy single to a regular batsman to get tailender on strike??? the conclusion is teams uses tricks thats what matters as long its not violating any rules of the game.

randiv is not there to give spoon feeding to sehwag and gift him the century.

dear finix, even if a single is given, batsman can deny it, otherwise also game will not be over... who knows the tail-could bat well to save the game for the team. What we expect is true sportsman ship and fighting qualities....

I am shocked to see the game spirit of Lankans... Even Pakistan team is better than these gaurillas.
Sri Lankan bowler Randive had done this purposely so that Sehwag should not complete his century.
THIS IS NOT THE CRICKET.

no doubt shewag is great player and i am his fan but frankly he should not blame randhiv for bowling a noball. frankly noboady knows if has done it delibrately except for randhiv himself. the reason why i have shewag should speak about sportman spirit is in a test match against india vs SA the Amla and Morkel the last pair were playing to save the test match and they have seen off more than 20 overs. With less than 10 overs left in the day for SA to save the test match shewag has delibrately kicked the ball over the boundary line to keep Amla off the strike so that our bowlers can take the wicket of morkel. How ever upmires have noticed that fined india by awrading 5 runs to SA.
What does this mean to shewag - sportsman spirit
players who do not have sportmanship qualities have no right to give speech about sportmanship

The difference in what u said and this are:
Then a team was looking for victory, here SL has almost lost..
Secondly, in case of SA the game was not over yet, but in yesterday's case it was so..
thirdly, spinner bowling such a big no-ball is reprehensible,
fourthly, he domonstrated his incapability of fighting by bowling no-ball.. had that been just of 1-2 inches nobody would have bothered, he came out of the crease by 1 foot to ensure that delivery will be called no-ball..

@ Raja

Agreed, Viru doesn't have the right to question the act of Randiv. If the umpires had penalised India 5 runs, why not some penalty being applied here too by the umpires, leave alone the after match comments of Viru? It was a clear case of intentional "no ball" bowling bu Randiv. He, a spinner, was a foot outside the line.

Was it a coincidence that the commentator was also saying, what if there is a no ball now and Shewag getting stranded at 99?

it seems you have no knowledege of cricket, if sehwag was fined , will randiv be fined for this? that does not equate both the cases.

Very unsporting behavior
by SR Hari on Aug 17, 2010 09:32 AM

The way Viru was denied the opportunity to score a ODI ton was very unsporting by the Lankans. They (read Randiv) can't be faulted technically. Neither can ICC be faulted for crediting the runs scored on a no ball to the extras. They may / may not relook into this rule.

While every bowler, team tries his / its best to deny runs to the batsman, yesterday's situation was that India was sure of winning the match that too with a bonus point.

Why should a spinner bowl a HUGE no ball with almost a one foot beyond the line? Even the 4 byes need to be looked into.

SL should realise that it is because of India and BCCI, their game is reviving after the bloody days of LTTE problems. While this is no reason to justify my argument, there should be basic sportman spirit being shown on the field by the SL team and players.

True. Porkis are much better than b a s t a r d s. If we see sanga face in post match ceremony, every 1 can say that they did wontedly. And sanga will say that his team is the best. Haha. Even lankan former cricketers blamed lankan spirit.

Records
by Legionnaire on Aug 17, 2010 09:22 AM

Records are important for both players and cricket fans. If records were not important then why did we rejoice when Gavaskar scored 10,000 runs, why did we feel proud that he was highest run scorer in the world, why did we eagerly wait for Kapil Dev to take his 432nd wicket. Why are we so obsessed with every run or century that Sachin scores? Why do we feel so good about Sehwag scoring 2 triple centuries and disappointed when he got out on 293.

The fact remains that records are important. In last match the record all the more important because it wasn't that Sehwag was slowing down to score his century thereby jeopardising India's chances of victory. The century was there for the taking along with Indian win and its by deliberation he was denied his century. If anyone feels disappointed on this outcome he/she is perfectly correct in feeling that.
