Time to look for another Good Spinner to lead the attack
by vadivel kumar on Aug 09, 2010 08:34 PM

It is time to look for another good spinner to lead the attack as Harbhajan doesn't look like the one to boost up the spirits of the team with timely wickets taken from no where.
May be Murali Karthik is one option with the amount of experince he had in first class/County and he was sidelined because India was having Kumble/Bhajji for almost a decade. He have to be given one last chance. For sure he will bring the results

This is nothing new In olden days if one bowler has failed they would remember other and make stories. In this pitch why blame only indian bowlers are blamed .How about malinga best in world of cricket who could not get single ,Even Wazinm akram has told that these pitchbes were meant to humiliate pace attackwicket

Don't change the bowlers every series/Match
by vadivel kumar on Aug 09, 2010 08:30 PM  | Hide replies

Pl look at the number of pacers india tried in the last few years in ODIs/Tests
Zaheer
Nehra
Praveen Kumar
Ishant Sharma
RP singh
Munaf Patel
Sreesanth
Sudeep Tyagi
A Mithun.
After Kumble retirement the place of 2nd spinner is tossed between Mishra and Ojha and both not getting oppurtunites continuously.
If You select a player pl stick with him thro out the series assuring him the place in the team for 3 matches and judge the performace after the end of the series.
No player will perform if a knife is hanging above his head every time he is running to bowl.

India just cannot stick to Harbhajan in a test match. Other people need opportunities.

in a country with lot of players we cannot give infinite chances to the select few.

Yes, knife will come down if you are not up to the task in couple (or may be 4) matches.

That fear should be there....

I agree. Harbhajan has played a lot of test matches and is one of the experienced campaigners. Just becoz he has taken more than 300 wickets does not prove his mental during that particular day.

aggression in fast bowlers is a good thing.
by krishna v on Aug 09, 2010 08:18 PM

well no doubt, india's bowling is weak.that is purely becuase of the selectors persistence with people like zaheer and harbhajan. th larger-than-game figures who perform only when they are about to be dropped i.e. once in a 10 matches are not needed. see at mithun, mishra, ojha..until india does not give more chances confidence to youngsters there is no hope.let them do their own thing. why curb their aggression poor sreesanth, irfan are always being put under pressure to curb their aggression, how can we produce fast bowlers if we keep putting pressure on them. they both have won matches on their own and are capable of winning it in the future.but their aggression whould be encoraged.not snubbed down.aggression in fast bowlers is a good thing.

without having doubt of Bedi's calibar; I can say that today's batsman are far far aware of playing spin then what Bedi faced the batsman those days.

Why are we overreacting?
by sandeep kumar on Aug 09, 2010 08:02 PM  | Hide replies

India drew the test series, by taking 20 wickets in the test, with a depleted bowling attack, so what exactly is the weakness that we are talking about? In full strength, India has to have one of the best bowling line ups. Zaheer is a world class swing bowler, and can reverse it as well. Nehra is a good death bowler, and hes done well since comeback. And can anyone forget ishants 2008 spell to ponting? Praveen is a great one day bowler, and then we have someone with 350 plus wickets harbhajan. And ojha, mishra and chawla are young and promising, and had done well in batsman dominated IPL. With all these riches, all we need is for them to stay fit, and we have a world beating line up. Aussies are going to anyway learn a few harsh lessons next month!!

its not weakness but call it inconsistency. They dont raise up to occasion. Except few teams rest of all teams have the same fate. Even in recent world cup foot ball this was clearly exposed when major teams got ousted early and the odds sprang surprise which was least expected by majority of foot ball lovers.

Let us not look in to who is who and what is their rank. Let us enjoy the game thoroughly for the money and time we spend.

What is excellent in it? Ok, Zaheer is doing rather well nowadays but his fitness is a bit of concern! Nehra, who accorind to you has done well is going for over 5.5 runs per over. Parveen also having an eco rate of over 5 isn't taking regular wickets. Who is Chawla btw? And just one spell to Punter and Ishan is everything. Have looked his bowling in this series? He never looked threatening in this series or even after that dream spell he hasn't done anything special. A good bowler is who is taking wickets at least 4 in a test match and at least 1.5 in an ODI.
Except Zaheer no one is doing that for India.
I'm afraid with this bowling attack we can't win the upcoing world cup
:(

wonder when every other team is able to find a decent pase bowler we are unable to find just one. Australia - Bolinger, Jhonson, Haris, tait, Africa- Styen, Morkel,, Srilanka - Malinga, Pakistan - Asif, Gul now Amir, Newziland- Bond, (even Tafi, Mills and Southi are better than our bowlers), England - Anderson, Broad, now fin and Bresnan..
But look at our team what we have..nehra who is not considered fit enough to play in tests, Parveen considered only for ODI (and too isn't sure he'll play) Ishant..wonder on what basis he's still playing, and....that's it!

Manmohan should continue practicing bowling; he can be a good asset to Indian Cricket team as a Spineer. Bedi, Manindar & Harbhajan can teach him.
