avijit burman
New fast bowler
by avijit burman on Aug 10, 2010 09:42 AM

There is a guy called Abu Nechim Ahmed who can bowl in the range of 140-145 kms. Best thing about this guy is that he can swing the ball significantly in both the ways. I had only seen him once when he was playing for Mumbai Indians and clocked 140-145 kms consistently. I looked for some information on this guy and saw that he signed up for Indian Cricket League also. May be he is not being considered for our national team for that purpose. But, looking at his abilities, I think he might become a lethal new ball bowler.
He also plays for Assam. May be it is a time to check out this guy.

Is bowling our main weakness?
by A Singh on Aug 10, 2010 09:27 AM

Hell, no!!
It is batting.
Given that our bowlers are not world class, and they cannot bowl a Test side out before it makes 1000, we should still not be losing Test matches, if we had batsman capable of matching the opposing teams.
We do not win enough because we have a weak bowling attack, but we lose enough Test Matches to conclusively suggest that our batting is not quite strong enough.
And about our fielding, lesser said, the better it is.

Rediff ..... a request
by RKD on Aug 10, 2010 09:22 AM  | Hide replies

Last paper of SSC of Maharashtra was on March 17th.... But college (FYJC) has not been started. Admissions are in process ... but candidates even after securing good percentage (between 86 - 90) are unable to get good college.
Some students are getting admission in good college though their percentage is very less .. but on Management Quota... This Quota is dangerous than Minority quota.
I request REDIFF to keep an eye on todays online admission process for FYJC Students.
I sense a big blunder in this process.

If Gandhi would have been alive today - He would have called Godse on his mobile to come and kill him. I regret to say this.

New Jersey
indian bowlers
by New Jersey on Aug 10, 2010 06:34 AM

India should have a pool of 10-15 bowlers including fast and spinners where every1 should be given an opportunity. After playing for india if one cannot sustain his place they should try the county teams abroad and not play in Ranji teams where it is useless. There are every chance that if ur playing for india and if ur a strike bowler that u may get injured - it can be any reason.

Dustbowl Dacoits
by Patriot on Aug 10, 2010 01:41 AM  | Hide replies

We have to learn from dacoits - Waqar, Wasim and even the young Mohd Aamir and Mr Dope (Asif).....all we need is 2 deadly speedsters who can be lightenening quick...

what we have now is half baked bowing - neither good spinners who can turn the ball on any surface nor speedsters who can be quick and threatening...we have lost our core area - Spin and records are held by Shane Warne (Australian ?) and Javeline Murali. Its bizarre for a country that boasts off Prassana, Bedi, Venkat and Chandra.

MRF pace academy
by Oye Kake on Aug 09, 2010 08:41 PM  | Hide replies

MRF pace academy is a conspiracy by an Australian Dennis Lillee to stop Indian bowlers from achieving what they can. Every Indian pace bowler when comes a fresh touches 144 kmph easily but after getting into the team they go to MRF pace academy for guidance and practice. And the result is back to 130 kmph with brain washed "Keep your line and length in control"

This pace academy even after more than a decade of existence has not produced one quality speedster for India yet. Imagine the future of the youngsters signing up on this forever mediocre result academy.

Please remember, if Ishant bowls at 140-150kmph, Sehwag, Yuvraj and other will have difficult time to negotiate him. After uprooting all grass form the pitches, Ishant is reduced to a snake with any fangs. Pacers always require green top to excel. But in India,Kumble and Harbhajan opened the bowling attack on many occasions, leaving pacers as a fieldsmen.

Only with MRF we got some players doing 130 or 140 before that????
(Except Kapil all of the other so called fast bowlers were slower than Kumble).
