Its raining money $
by WShrek on Apr 14, 2010 03:50 AM

IPL is a big business, it has nothing do with a state or city or having cricket tradition in a region.
Its all about money here, if you have money you can have a team for any city, town or village. The francisee
is given to the highest bidders. Though BCCI owns IPL, Lalit Modi runs the show. He has clear biz interests here.

I did some research about the IPL biz and found few things, I wish to share it here. It was his idea that IPL needed 2 more franchisees from next season. So director Priyadarshan, Kashay Kumar, Mohanlal,Anil Kapoor and couple of other Bollywood stars with backing of few biz groups pitched in for a franchisee. They met Lalit Modi and he told them that franchisee has to have a bank guarantee of rs 5000 crores. Having heard this they backed out of the venture. It seems Modi wanted his people to get the franchisee. They don't care what city or state it gets. They care for their biz ONLY. This was never heard of before, I wonder if this is a policy can some one ,ike Sharookh, Priety or Shilpa shetty afford to own a franchise, no way !!

Tharoor jumped into the fray and he took the lead to form Rendezvous consotium, interestingly IPL Kochi has only 2 keralites in it. Thats why I say again and again this is all about money. Lalit Modi wanted Videocon and Adani group to get a franchise, which didn't happen. He reportedly tried to be a blockade for R-consrtium franchisee and wanted Adani and Videocon to have shares in kochi franchisee. He returned back

All francise's investors' names should be revealed
by WShrek on Apr 14, 2010 03:48 AM  | Hide replies

All franchise's names should be made public. Then the beautiful faces will go to backstage and the real investors' face will come to the front.

Its very clear that Sharookh, priety, Shilpa do not have that much money to invest and own an IPL team. I beleive there are lots of politicians and lot of black money has been poured into this cricketing drama.

I am sure Modi had an agenda and clear biz interests by revealing investor names and levelling ab allegatio n against Tharoor.

Let the truth come out........

No one will ask that cos they are not involved with Congress. Modi is a BJP guy and BJP thought its a great chance to try and get into Congress' skin through Taroor!

Who is crying foul? Other franchisees? NO! its the BJP who is asking for probe!

In the last auction Modi did not think that it is his responsibility to answer some questions thru tweeter and reveal who the stakeholders of other franchisees are?? WHY?

May be cos some BJP kings' name will come out!

Lalit Modi is BJP ? lol.. why ? just because his last name is Modi ?

If you dont understand businessmen like him yet, i pity you..

Modi is a businessman and he is BJP/CON/Communist or even Muslim league if necessary..

These people are supporters of those who are in power, its too dangerous for them to align strongly with any one party or any one ideology..

Remember during vajpai times, entire top industrialists showed they were hinzcidus very prominently.. now the same people are inviting hurriyat leaders and talking about szceckularism.. if BJP comes to pwoer again, they will become hzcinduzxs once again.

Tharoor took on the Marwadi lobby head on
by Thomas Mathew on Apr 14, 2010 03:48 AM  | Hide replies

For the first time in Indian history, a malayali has shown the assertiveness and the courage to challenge the entire marwadi business lobby head on, as opposed to their traditional role of being clerks and Personal Assistants to powerful businessmen. This is something the Marwadi lobby can hardly digest, hence the mudslinging by Lalit Modi and the business consortium behind him.

Way to go, Mr Tharoor!!

Educated ppl cannot stand a chance against illiterate politicians. Eventually Mr Taroor will lose this "battle" and may be the Kochi franchise will lose out...!

No 1 - No one cares abt that part of India. Its just cos of the people there, the state is run in a decent way.. otherwise it would receive the same fate as North East States

No 2 - people are not crazy or egotistic to fight for IPL team. If Kochi team gets cancelled, worst case they will burn an effigy of Modi. Thats all.. thats the farthese they can and will go.

Congress will expell Taroor and there will be a by-election or something in that constituency..

Ahmedabad will be the second IPL team just like the wishes of Modi and BJP...

Story Ends there....!! :-)

I dont see many exciting cricketers from kerala and the number 1 sport of your state is soccer, not cricket..

Motera stadium of Ahmedabad is much better than that of Kochi (test standard).

Finally, the ultimate logic to seal the deal is:

the name AHMEDABAD is more szxceckular than the name KOCHI ;)

Game, Set and Match pwned ;)

Tharoor got busted
by Rakesh Kumar on Apr 14, 2010 03:37 AM  | Hide replies

Tharoor is trying to held Kerala's pride hostage to get out of this controversy. He did the same when contesting for UN generals position, holding India's pride as hostage. This issue has nothing to do with Kerala. It deserves a IPL team. No one is denying that.

Here the issue is Tharoor's girlfriend got shares worth 70 crore for free. Why? It is anybody's guess.

As a student at Duke University, USA in 1985, Modi was convicted for possessing 400 grams of cocaine and charged with assault and kidnapping. Modi pleaded guilty to the crime when the case was heard in the Durham County court, North Carolina and later entered a plea bargain, which resulted in a suspended two year prison sentence

mr lalit modi, if you read this then, you need to note that, mr. tharoor sounds true. further, your actions, being the commissioner of IPL, do cast serious aspersions on your integrity, which is very damaging. it gives grounds for air that, you might be attempting to influence the results of the game and tournament.
