If she was related to the consortium before he knew her, then i dont see an issue. If he introduced her to them and asked to give his share to her instead, then i can see your point.

by realindian on Apr 14, 2010 04:13 AM  | Hide replies

As a student at Duke University, USA in 1985, Modi was convicted for possessing 400 grams of cocaine and charged with assault and kidnapping. Modi pleaded guilty to the crime when the case was heard in the Durham County court, North Carolina and later entered a plea bargain, which resulted in a suspended two year prison sentence

Tharoor : minister of affairs
by Great Akbar on Apr 14, 2010 03:59 AM  | Hide replies

Tharoor has quit his extenral affairs job, now his job is minister of affairs.
I think the only good thing Bush Administration did is to keep this Sonia chamcha out of UN, sadly though the refuse was exported to our homeland.

I hate to be on Lalit Modi's side but
by Parth Mehta on Apr 14, 2010 03:57 AM  | Hide replies

I hate to be on Lalit Modi's side but this is a case of serious conflict of interest with the minister. A company called Rendezvous Sports whose name was never known till now comes up suddenly with bunch of people wanting to bid for a Kochi IPL Team. Then they go to a Central Minister to help them guide the process of bidding. God knows why they had found only Shashi Tharoor to help the bidding process. Then suddenly Tharoor's would be wife who hails from Jammu, a beautician by profession, a spa-owner, working in a construction company in Dubai & who has tried her luck in a traveling company & event management as well gets a free equity of 18% which amounts to $ 16 million out of $ 333 milion of total bidding price. The reason given: Sunanda Pushkar's marketing skills & knowledge of Kerala. The whole explanation from the side of Tharoor seems unpalatable that he doesn't have to do anything with the Kochi IPL as far as finances are concerned. Well, he may be right but indirectly he would be the beneficiary as his would be wife was given free equity for some weird hard to believe reason. I am an admirer of Tharoor. The way Lalit Modi has handled IPL is known to everyone. But this whole thing brought into light by Modi makes it necessary for Tharoor to come out clean. Congress is not going to back him as they've already distanced themselves as a party. BJP should stop asking UPA to sack Tharoor. It is completely unnecessary atleast at thi
