Sachin retirement
by Srijoy Ganguli on Oct 16, 2009 12:54 AM

Sachin has been a master batsman always.since the arrival of the yuvrajs, dhonis, sehwags&gambhirs alot of pressure has been lifted from his shoulders.but still he is included in every odi and test possibly becoz his presence is invigorating even when he is not in the best of form.it will be interesting to see how the team copes once he retires after a few years

Harbhajan should be dropped
by Nandkishor Dhawale on Oct 16, 2009 12:23 AM  | Hide replies

Harbhajan is performing badly from last year or so.He gets whacked all round the park from good team.Only gets wickets only against teams like west indies.

I agree with you Mr. Nanda. Bhajji needs a break. Young Pragyan Ojha should be given a chance. Even Murali Kartik would'nt be a bad choice bcos he has done well against the Aussies on more than one occassion.

i would be surprised if dravid could sleep peacefully after that awfully slow inning in a crucial champions trophy match! gavaskar was great but inspite of falling wickets ...his slowest inning in ODI is generally ridiculed!

What about worst bolwing of Harbahjan singh ???

What about Dhoni's Payjama dance LBW ???

What about Virat KOhli's careless
shot caused match against Pakistan ??

Dravid score 76 highest runs when wickets are falling in one end ????

When chasing 300 score one cannot achieve it alone, also support needed from other batsman too.Except gambir others shot selection was badly.

guys cool down. point is dravid is not fit for chasing scores above 300 as the sheet anchor also has to hit boundaries ow the guy at other end will feel extra pressure of scoring fast. That led to the dismissal of virat, pathan and dhony and raina. though dravid as such is a great player.

THOSE CHAKKAS (TOP ORDER ) FAILED TO IMPRESS MEANS WHAT DRAVID WILL DO , ATLEAST HE MUST SHOW SOMWE RESPECT TO BOWLERS & SOME RUNS TO INDIA, NO MATTER HE PALYS SLOW OR FAST HE IS BEST BEACUSE BY THE TIME HE STARTED PLAYING CRICKET WAS JUST LIKE THAT & THATS THE REASON HE ALSO GROWN LIKE THAT.

by atul shrivastava on Oct 15, 2009 11:07 PM  | Hide replies

in d recent challengers series..he had harbhajan batting up the order..even whn his team was losing wickets....

and y is dravid out????....age is jst an execuse...dravid is fitter than most youngsters...

since ages..dravid has been made scapegoat...he used to keep wickets so tht ganguly cud accomodate 7 batsmen

his commitment towards the game cnt b questioned....

dont youngsters get involved in run outs??? and how many times...has dravid ran out his patner????....and how many times india lost coz of dravid??

ya because selectors wanted indian pitches from being dug by his defensive strokes...ball certainly goes a long way.....but vertically!

its not about commitement ....
u knw he need to change his attitude
whenever he comes to play he just becomes overdefensive,in ODI u cant afford strike rate in 60's ,ok depending on condition its ok (like 2 many wickets fall)but he just slow down inning ...
i think he is better 4 test..
u knw y he was chosen coz he played superbly in IPL (fast n steady also)
but as soon as he came in the team he changed his game...
im not doubting dravid's abilities ,he is best but still i miss our old dravid(THE WALL)
to my opinion not only dravid but sachin should b dropped too...
again sachin is master but when will india learn to play without him, both should play in test due to their huge experience...

Against Pakistan he scored 76

If youngsters try and lose a few matches....it is still fine!
But, definitely it is not accepatble if a seasoned player of more than 300 matches scoring at 70 SR while chasing 300 score (and also getting a few partners run out along the way)!
Why are people trying to save Dravid in this forum?

It is hard to say what's right
by Nathan Somas on Oct 15, 2009 10:52 PM

I Know Dravid is a great player, no one can replace his pure defense and the ability to carry the innings. However if you watched few games that he played lately, he has become very slow running between the wkts and he is very slow in the field as well. Second of all the main reason that I can think for the drop was..the way he ran between wkts on the game against Pakistan. I would say Dravid is also one of the reason why we lost that game, he was involved with 3 run outs on that game..and the one with Gambir was very crucial and changed the game. Gambir was clearly upset with Dravid on that game. He has problem running with youngsters.
