Useless...
by karthik on Oct 16, 2009 10:39 AM

In Champions trophy there were total 13 young players and in playing 11, 9 youngsters were playing still the fielding was bad, so who should be blamed its the players and not the coach. Also Ishant sharma and RP singh were not bowling well but Nehra and Praveen bowled well then blame the bowlers and not the bowling coach.

by karthik ram on Oct 16, 2009 10:09 AM

jadeja is very poor player in amy form of international cricket...he has no shots in the book...then ishant must surely b dropped from odi and 20-20.poor bowler..instead of these two robin utappa and abishek nayar must b picked....main player to b dropped is dhoni and bring back dravid...dhoni is selfish player always looking for average and icc worldrankings...sachin,viru,yuvi,bhaji,zaheer
,gambir play well as well as india wins credit only goes to dhoni..look at anil kumble team player -unselfish player captian

unfair with dravid
by deewaker pandey on Oct 16, 2009 09:19 AM

it seems he become a scapegoat. i dont think selectors will be able to justy his exclusion from the team. firstly if they dont want him then y did they include him in the team for CT. and if included then its very unfair for a player with 13 year experience to be dropped just after a series. he did not performed so bad that lead to the exclusion of him. instead of dropping him selector must concentrate on improving the bowling attack. its very poor that any riffraff batsman can easily hit our bowler. its really bad for dravid. he deserve far better farewell.

Thank god, they kicked Dravid
by Guest on Oct 16, 2009 08:29 AM  | Hide replies

And finally selectors realized what is so obvious to everybody in India who follows cricket. Its a shame that stalwarts like Kumble and Shrinath couldn't manage to infuse some sense in off color Dravid. I don't understand what is he waiting for? Dravid, always to me was an ordinary batsman with extraordinary determination and dedication but we can't make a diamond out of stone. Dravid had mastered an art of hitting the ball to a fielder 9 out of 10 times. Good that Dravid is out of the team now. Hope there will b less run outs in future and team can create a new culture where every delivery bowled is supposed to b ment for scoring runs and not for providing easy fielding pracitse to opponants. Thanks, Dravid pls rest in peace and better utilize ur determination for making an new test cricket acadamy in bangalore. We don't need u..........atall!

Selectors Play the Game Again
by Kalyankrishnan Natarajan on Oct 16, 2009 02:33 AM

It is very evident that some players are in the team only for luck, especially players like Dhoni [ since he is the captain ], Raina [ Since he is a bad hooker, wants to prove a point ], Harbhajan Singh [ Since he has lost his spin, wants to regain confidence ], Ishant Sharma [ Since he has lost bowling, wants to learn bowling from Munaf ] and virat kohli [ since he was lead under 19 ].

Selectors should know that the coaches do their best to coach the players, but in the ground , when the game is going on, the coaches dont come down to coach. So the players are to be blamed for their misfit, not the coaches.

Its high time that the scape goats should be let free.

Players like Abhishek Nayar, are dropped without getting a proper game to be played, and players like Virat Kohli get chance every series, thanks to Dhoni.

After Kumble I thought Harbhajan would have shown the capability in leading the bowling attack, instead he is leading from behind, and he is still in the team. Instead of coming one down, lately he is coming 5th change.

At this point I would like to say that only Gambhir, Sehwag, Yuvraj & Sachin can help India provide some fight for the Aussies.

Badluck Rahul Dravid

Dhoni should be the one to be dropped
by Rahul Ponting on Oct 16, 2009 01:53 AM  | Hide replies

Well, I don't necessarily want to see Dravid in the 2011 WC. But I thought he was to be played for another 2-3 series and given a good farewell which he very much deserves. It's funny the selectors dropped the man who almost won us the match against Pakistan. He did what he was expected to do. In the tournament even Ponting had scored a 50 with a strike rate lower than 70 in a match. But he was well supported by his mates who played the bang bang cricket.
I think its the captain who should be sacked after two huge failures, namely the ICC 20-20 WC and the ICC Champions trophy. He has done well in the past and if kept captain he might do well again. But clearly the guy has lost the hunger to fight in the big tournaments. Winning some tri-nation series don't compensate for the big failures in the most important tournaments. His body language in both the tournaments wasn't inspiring at all. He should get the boot now. This would be a warning to all cricketers that they are not above the game and can't take things easy when it matters the most. Let someone like Gambhir or Zaheer Khan get the chance to lead Indian cricket team. Dhoni could continue being the wicketkeeper-batsman of the team. He's good at that. But he or for that matter any other cricketer should be treated the way a professional sportsperson is to be treated, according to their merit. We need to be more supportive of the game and our team and less of our favourite cricketers!

I think it is high time, Dhoni should be shown the door. Dhoni has always been lucky. If u c when he started off, he used to be a big hitter. But if u carefully observe he lacks technique but has power in his forearms. The first two series he played was in India & Pakistan. On flat tracks, where the ball doesn't do much he could do the power hitting. But since then he has failed because, most of the matches were played on swinging wickets. I feel pained by the
comments of cricket experts that Dhoni has curbed down his big hitting strokes. Actually he is trying but he knows he with his current technique is not able to play power strokes against moving delivery. But he seemed to be a good captain. It seemed like every move he made was working especially in the T20 World Cup when he Australia were cruising and he bought Harbhajan to remove Clarke with a yorker. I think it was his plain luck.He would always look emotionally blank which was mistaken as his strong point. I think selectors need to sack Dhoni and find a new captain.
Who are replacements? Gambhir?? Yuvi?? Sehwag??(no no.. he looks clueless for Delhi Daredevils), Harbhajan (not really),
wat about Karthik?? i used to hate that guy.. He was a good wicket keeper. But i used to wonder how can he be in the team without scoring. But IPL 2 has changed my perspective about Karthik. He seems to be a completely different batsmen since then. I think Karthik should be madethe new captain. He is a good bat/wktkpr thinking cktr

Foolish indian dont understand DHOBI politics he porposefully keeps team weak so he always has reason if team losses to hide his incapability.

DHOBI KNOWS HE DONT DESERVE palce in team by merits but he is very good in POLITICS.

Now with this foolish team and no good batsmen entire responsibilty of loss will come on poor SACHIN,Sehwag....then foolish indians will start shouting drop SACHIN.

DHOBI will manage to escape debacles as he come at 5th/6th postion when india is losing or 80% match is over.

DHOBI come at 3rd/4th postion only when india is wining or gets good start.

if DHOBI easily manages to make runs bcoz by the time he comes to play entire field is spread out so with only singles he first tries to make 30-40 odd runs to secure his place with what ever strike rate...once he crosses 30-40 odd then he starts to think of winning the game for team INDIA

if Bowling is good with field set closer DHOBI hardly manages to make 10 runs

if DHOBI fails to play we say he is out in aceleration the inning as INDIA had poor start.

IN ALL CASES DHOBI is the WINNER thats the reason he has good batting avg as the come to play in later stages with field spead out and remains not out improving this avg.

It is such a shame that the best class cricketer like Rahul Dravid is been droped.

Why are we not droping biggest losers like DHOBI, rp singh, ishant, nehra, handgajan (impotent), Zaheer?

BUT we indians deserver to get FOOLED as majority of us realy are!

Spin
by Sparsh Goel on Oct 16, 2009 01:44 AM

Spin bowling is playing major role again in ODI and 20/20. Ojha should have been selected, may be in place of Ishant. I don't have much hope from Jadeja. Since matches are in India he might have a chance. Dravid's exclusion is justified. On low bounce indian pitches players like Raina can score quickly even if they have bad technique. No fear of short pitch balls on indian pitches. Considering world cup is in subcontinent persisting with hitters like Raina, kohli is ok if they are able to perform here. Dravid must be in team when we tour england, nz, sa, oz etc.
