Come on yaar, don't be an idiot.

Do you think one captain can control the selection? Why are you pointing your dirty finger at Sachin. And your inclination about Maharastrian players should help maharastrians get selected is a heap of horse manure. How can you be so dumb and a half wit with the same coin. That guy doesn't deserve our time. forget him.

Gavaskar preferred regional players
by Crick fan on Nov 30, 2009 04:13 AM  | Hide replies

Its good if you can promote your good players into the National side. But you get horribly exposed when it backfires. But Gavasker managed to take off focus away from himself and come out un hurt in such episodes.
The most controvercial selection he did was playing Suru Nayak and Gulam Prakar ahead of Mohinder Amarnath. The difference in the calibre of players here was calk and cheese.
Gavaskar had more players from Mumbai as Mumbai had good players those days. No hastle having in quality players like Ravi Shastri, Sandeep patil, Vengsarkar, Gavri. But selections like Allan Sippy, Suru Nayak, Gulam Parkar were clearly push overs.
But really sad the Gavaskar lost hold of things even in Mumbai lately and could not get Rohan Gavaskar a batting slot in the team. Rohan had to go and play for Assam.

Sachin is a crickteer. his job is to play cricket for his country. it is not sachin's fault that gavaskar could play both cticket and politics. Yes. There was a time when B'bay players dominated the scene. Let us not analyse as to who did more for his state. As a captain you might have some say. Ravi Shastry, Vengsarkar, Ghavri , S. Patil justified the selection. Allan sippy, suru Nayak and Ghulam parkar could not. But one thin there were great players like Srikkanth, Azhar, kapil dev etc. from other states who prospered under Gavaskar. If Gavaskar had pusshed bombay players ahead of those from other states, it is an act of treachery and traitorship-- Mr. Thackeray would do well to realise this. But unfortunately, common sense is a non existent commodity for our politicians.

If somebody says that he is upset by Sachin Tendulkar's statement-'Mumbai is for all Indians' ,he is hurting other Indians. One thing is for sure..He does not represent a Mumbaikar

Mumbai India's Part
by Baikaar on Nov 28, 2009 03:47 PM

Mumbai is not 'Azad Kashmir' where one has to assert repeatedly that it is Pak-occupied Kahmir (PoK)". Mumbai is an Indian city, a business hub of the country. Constitutionally it is part of India and every citizen has a right to visit, stay and settle there.

I don't see any reason why our dear Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar has to take up "THE LEGAL CAUSE" of Indians like a politician and try to become a hero?

Not regional but yes comfart
by Len Hutton on Nov 28, 2009 11:22 AM

Captain always has responsibility to get the team win, after every failure question asked for loosing the game, so he always try to select the best team but yes he selects players who listens him and with whom he feel comfortable because ultimately he who responsible. But yes selectors who comes from different regions try to push players from their own region and allegation has been made by some players that they even demand bribe from players.

Utter stupidity......
by Globalcrusador on Nov 28, 2009 10:41 AM

It is utter stupidity to look at a team's composition based on the language spoken by an individual player. It shows mental bankruptcy. When the Indian cricket team won y/day defeating Sri Lanka by more than innings, the entire nation was happy on the overall team performance. Did any one bother whether a bowler was a marathi or a bengali or a bihari. Only a dysfunctional brain can think along these lines. Long live the spirit of India !We salute you !!

Look, we are supposed to be a free country. Tendulkar can say what he wants to. Just because SS MNS and CM talk does not mean nobody else should talk. This is dictatorship. Finally can you tell me if any single politician keeps his mouth shut.

why?

for the first time in his life Sachin made a socio-political statement and you are saying that the "timing" wasn't right. do you realise this is a democracy and everyone is entitled to his own opinion?

i think it is this lack of knowledge of this country's true socio-political orientation, that has lead to innumerable instances of civic violations and suppression of the honest voice.

shame shame shame ....

Please blame the reporter who asked him to comment on the controversy, not Sachin who eventually made the comment. I am sure if he had said "no comment", he would have been called a fellow who chickened away from that situation.

On the other hadn, Sachin did the best thing by coming out in the open and stating his views. If a politician makes a third rate remark, it does not mean every one should fall in line immediately. I am glad Sachin stood out and spoke about what he thinks is right. His stock has gone up since then.

so wait, you are saying that one should keep the tail between the legs and bark when no ones around ? ( BY THE WAY, I AM NOT CALLING TENDY A DOG, Its just figurative speech ) Yes, that perfectly fits the standards of INDIANS today -- you are the typical Indian ( who is gutless and spineless).
Its a sad state of affairs that we are made up of scums like yourself. This is why we get terrorised so much, INDIA is filled with misfits like yourself.

Hats off to Tendy for trying to incite nationalism and Patriotism.

@chatur , can you and your kind tie yourself and drown in the arabian ocean ?
