sachin won the most man of the match awards too. these awards are usually given to players who played the biggest role in their teams contribution.

go home think and analyze - is it blind fan adulation or merit that makes you respond so?

Mr. Oomsick Toosick. Nobody needs to have a blind fan adulation to write about Sachin. It is based on pure analysis, facts and figures. all these speak for themselves. I think you are a blind critic

Ram we need to look at his performances objectively and not hero worship him blindly. Sachin is an indian and being an indian, i am proud of his greatness and his humility, but the fact is he does not finish off a match whenin balance. Take the test match against pakistan at chennai way back when they akram and co. We just had to make 19 more runs, but despite playing wonderfully, he gave it away and we lost. again, the last ODI against the aussies, when he played magnificently and the match was for his taking. He gifted his wicket and we lost.

The greatness of a person is judged by how many matches he wins in pressure situations and not merely by the number of centuries one scores!

Mr Ramakrishnan. No batsman plays to lose. No bowlers bowls to get hit. They all have the same passion. Passion to play for the country. We the people are giving it a different meaning.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: The lord of flat pitches and meaningless reco

I agree with you totally. But let us look at another situation. Instead of 136 had he scored 95 and India still lost. Would you still have the same words? No my friend. We are like this only. We criticize for performing and not performing as well. After Sachin was out in both the matches there were 3-4 more wickets. They couldn't. But we are ready to forgive a Jadeja or any other later bastmen, because it was not their job to finish. It was only Sachin's job.

The statistics are there for you to see and understand and analyse. Nobody follows a sportsman just because he scores tons of runs. They follow because they see a merit in the person. And that is what Sachin is all about. Mind you cricket is a team game.

Last benson & hedges cup in austraila. Sachin throws challenge to australian that he will finish it in only two final. 3rd final will not be required in response of ricky ponting. He assures that india win first two final single handedly. In sharjah when he played was the crunch time. Problem is sachin comes for opening when he do good Indian doesnt feel that he does it in crunch but when he fails every one says he does not perform in vital time. they forget every time you can expect for a single man. Perfect example is a test against Pak. when sachin got out India were needed just 16 runs having 5 wickets in hand. This position comes only by sachin as he made 150 score in that match. But alas indian fails to make those run and the blame goes to sachin. Why? If India could have won he would have become hero with same score and become Villian with same score just because of result. Cricket is a team effort. You can not win a test match with one man performance
Re: The lord of flat pitches and meaningless records
by TheBoss on Nov 25, 2009 02:07 AM
Had he got out on Zero and India lost that test match - you would have said this was a crunch situation and he failed. Now that he delivered and batted the day out - you would say it was not needed. But keep b-a-r-k-ing "elephant" will keep moving.

42 test centuries 16 times india won (7 times away from home)...9 times lost..(7 times away from home)(3times in aus against aus..2 times in sa against sa)lost to opponents 4 times auses.2 times sa.1 time to n/z eng and pak...17 times draw.10 times away..3 times aus 2 times eng and sa ur cricketing knowledge is at stake..talk with facts

my child i am in early 40's and have following cricket since kapil paaji and gavaskar use to fight with opponents....but this guy has changed the course of cricket and fan following which no one else in world cricket can do......what indian cricket is today is vastly cause of the gr8 man...how can u forget most of the times opponents only concentrated on scahin which gave a free road for others....i have been following sachin since his famous century against auses at old trafford to save the match when he merely was 16 or 17.....having a test century at the age in austr against aus was something which only the oldies can tell u

To be honest, sachin played unbeleivable inningses both in 1 days and test cricket against bowling greats all around the world and under tremendous pressure situations, unfortunately india didn't have a proper set of players at different positions to handle responsibilities....most of the times it became a one man show all the way....there are matches where he batted sigle handedly till the end but unfortunately got out many times near the target....it is still happening in case of sachin...perhaps that is the only reason for which he is still blamed for so called not delivering at the crunch situation....

He had won us two finals in australia, Than saved a decisive test match against england, Won us final against windies How much do u expect from Sachin . What all other will do will they are in team to dance
Re: Re: Re: Re: The lord of flat pitches and meaningless records
by Oomshik Tooshik on Nov 24, 2009 06:53 PM
Repeat - Mahesh, it's abt crunch time, not when the flow is with India. Then sure India wins, but up against say 300 vs. Aust - our man will always not finish, or worse do a zero.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: The lord of flat pitches and meaningless reco

If thats your point - then let me tell you flow is never against india when he bats well.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: The lord of flat pitches and meaningless reco
by SachinSabKaBaap on Nov 24, 2009 07:02 PM
y does the crunch time arrive?????most of the matches he has won us never had a twist....he just has blowed the opposition...u can always figure out some instances when he didnt.....anyways last line his scores are added to indian score sheets and not separate score sheets...42 centuries and 16 times win out 7 outside subcontinent..9 times lost again 7 times outside..rest times match was draw....that means 40% times when he scores century india wins a test match isnt that enough????now he dosent take those matches in crunch sitituions is something different issue alltogether
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: The lord of flat pitches and meaningless reco
by mahesh gupta on Nov 24, 2009 06:55 PM
What do u mean crunch time. Do u expect opener to bat 100 overs everytime he comes out to bat . If it does happen Sachin woluld have scored 45 200's
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: The lord of flat pitches and meaningless reco
by Balaji Krishnamurthy on Nov 24, 2009 08:36 PM
I think it is just a blind dislike you have for the guy. Talking about flat pitches, this man has scored in every part of the world. If so, the world is full of flat pitches, and everybody's record evens out. Yes, Tendulkar has failed at crucial times. He has also delivered at crucial times. What people keep harping about is the fact that India has lost a lot of finals. But India reached most of those finals because of him. The very least you can expect is that the others should deliver. They haven't, so don't blame Tendulkar alone. Sure his fourth innings record is not good, but you can't have everything. By the way, through the 90's most of the time he played a lone hand, either the bowlers or the batsmen would fail. If you look at the period from 2000 Jan, India has a pretty good overseas record, the best after Australia. Talking about going with the flow, he has also changed the direction of matches with his performances. Sure he is not perfect, but he is human. Let us not blindly criticize a man who has been one of the finest to walk into the cricket field.

man has scored highest no of runs with highest average in world cups...without ultimate result but its never been a 1 man game...it has to be a team effort...the fact that we want him to win worldcup shows how much we ask of him and how much pressure he has to perform to live up to the expectations of vast fan followers

Pitch is slow and low and it is going to be more worst. Batting will not be easy on 3rd, 4th and 5th day. Srilanka can't save this test. There batting is weak.
Re: Re: another boring draw
by Jai Jadhav on Nov 24, 2009 06:34 PM
batting is week, last game they made 700 odd runs... anyways... draw match ... 100% chances....
Re: another boring draw
by mukundrai ghelani on Nov 24, 2009 06:52 PM
yes, i agree with you. any pitch should favour fast ballers first two-three days and afterwards the spinners. may be this pitch has something after three days for indian spiners, otherwise......
Re: another boring draw
by vinay on Nov 24, 2009 08:59 PM
100% agreed with narayanan. going to b a dull draw. even munaf or ishant can score hundreds on such pitches.
Surprisingly, Sri Lanka continued to employ a defensive field even for new batsman Sachin Tendulkar, who has just one half-century in his previous five innings at Kanpur.

Poor captaincy by Sangakara. A.Mathews was most effective bowler today who troubled Sehwag in opening spell but Sangakara did't use him well.

Was there anything funny about my comments? Or just too much postings has affected you?
I know its a little early. But is it the beginning of another long drawn test with no end!
Seriously we should stop making this wickets so lifeless! Its spoils the team itself. But then, who cares if the team is spoiled as long as the income keeps flowing. Right?
Re: What kind of wickets are these?
by LAKSHMI NARASIMHAN on Nov 24, 2009 06:12 PM
Very correct. authorities prepare such pitches in the sub continent probably to boost the average of batsmen. ICC should not take into account scores made in drawn matches

well said for those who claim Ponting to be the best against Sachin...Ponting scores only in Flat Australian Pitch and when their entire team plays well and wins the match,He is a sore loser as well

You have forgotten the 2005 Ashes and 2009 Ashes when he fared badly against quality seamers like Flintoff's team
SAchin's 1st WC 1992: Too young to make any impact, the whole team failed misarably.
SAchin;s 2nd WC 1996: India went to Semi, Sachins MOM, half of the run scored by team India in that semi was of Sachin's. We failed because of other 10 guys.Sachins MOS.
Sachin's 3rd WC 1999: Some individual performances(Sachin/Dravid/Ganguly), but whole team failed.
Sachin's 4th WC 2003: Sachin MOS. India went to Final only and only for Sachin. Still we condemn him for only one failure in the Final. Why?
Sachin's 5th WC 2007: The whle team collapsed.
So , we can see in WC wenever we went past semi , MOS is Sachin, Still why sachin's critics blame him?????????? Its we Indians didnt played as a team. To win a WC, individual performance is never enough.
Re: Why blame Sachin
by Haramohan Roy on Nov 24, 2009 05:54 PM
Why waste time and space? The world knows that Sachin is a great player. Those who still differ, will never accept it - however much you talk logic.
So, don't waste time on this topic. Instead, let us wonder why the BCCI continues to make such flat and unsporting pitches!
