Wicket may deteriorate in 3 days. Then India has a chance. But it is winter, may not happen. Wait and see. Strategy will be to bat once and get 20 wickets.

I would bat on and on till third morning. With guys like Laxman, Yuvi, Dhoni still to come; India should aim for 850 on this track to put pressure on SL. Gone are the days when 600 was an intimidating score. The only chance for India is to pile huge... nothing less than 850 and wait for the wicket to crack. If SL get to bat before third morning, they will have a very good chance of shaving off quite a lot of first innings score.

So the 'Mantra' is 'THINK BIG' In fact HUGE... And then keep SL on filed for so long, if not Indian bowlers; tiredness can get them !

But he will never ever deliver in a crunch situation and this has happened numerous times. Only these few words, he has to say about sachin. this fellow has another nick name called soldiersoniaji, and always posts comments against the development of nation be it in sports or of the country. What else we can say, afterall he is a muxiewho supportspakistan.

Parnell returns from ankle injury
by Senthil on Nov 24, 2009 07:25 PM

Morne Morkel called up to add cutting edge

South Africa have responded to concerns over their bowling attack by calling Morne Morkel into the one-day squad for the remaining matches against England and are also boosted by the return of Wayne Parnell.

Morkel will join up with the team on Wednesday in Cape Town ahead of the third ODI on Friday and Parnell is back following an ankle injury to act as cover for Charl Langeveldt who has a shoulder problem. The home side's attack failed to make much of an impression at Centurion Park as England comfortably chased down 251 with four overs to spare. Other than Dale Steyn, who swung the new ball at pace, there was little threat from the remaining options at Graeme Smith's disposal so Morkel's extra bounce will be a valuable weapon.

"He has shown good form in domestic cricket this season and was also impressive in the 50-over match for South Africa A against England a week ago," Mike Proctor, the convenor of selectors, said. "He will definitely form part of our plans for the Test series as well so the sooner we have him involved with the team the better."

South Africa's plans for the one-day series have been hampered by Parnell's ankle injury, which has kept him out of action since the Champions Trophy, and the loss of Jacques Kallis who has a fractured rib. Langeveldt has been recalled to the team and Ryan McLaren handed his first opportunities but there is a lack of cutting edge when Steyn isn't operating.

This match, believe me guys, is headed to a close finish. The wicket will start to break form tom post lunch. This will make it difficult for the Lankan batsmen to score quickly (unlike the first test). Of course all these depend on how well Bhajji bowls. And may be Ojha could be a surprise.

it's realy hard to understand why harbajan is in the team, despite being so pathatic in his bowling for such a long period of time....cant expect much frm bhajji, infact indian bowling without Kumble under these conditions is not different frm srilankan attack...it's not a bowler friendly pitch...no excitement in this test match...batting paradise

Adaptability is most important on these pitches. You can continue bowling that way you do on turning tracks. You have to play a waiting game and wait for the batsmen to make mistakes. With a big total and on a flat track the bowlers needs to work on variations.

Repeat - here's why SRT's useless for India's 'team'
by Oomshik Tooshik on Nov 24, 2009 07:12 PM  | Hide replies

In 75 yrs of 'test' official status, India has never been ranked no. 1 in a sport played by 6-7 nations. That itself is pathetic. Fans jump up and down at Ind's mediocre achievements in a minor sport, cos India barely competes anywhere else.

Enter SRT - with umpteen records and more records in a game that only India cares about. Even then India wins little, and this guy rarely steps up when needed.

Kya faayda to 'team' India? Zero.
Even Laxman and Dravid have won matches in backs to the wall situations. Not SRT - SRT does 'so near yet so far', or does zero. so many times.
---again---
Teeming crowds will once again felicitate Mr SRT for:

- umpteen useless self serving 100s
- 30000 runs in his own cause
- record cents
- record 50s
- record tests
- 17000
- 12500
- No Wcup wins
- never rising to a challenge
- 'Injury' when in danger if being dropped
- 0 vs. Aust/Pak/SA followed by 150 vs. Zimbabwe/Bangladesh on many occasions
- Stalling matches to score personal milestones
- Mutual admiration society with Messrs Gavaskar, Shastri
- Dropped from all time dream Test team list on numerous occasions by cricket greats. They know exactly how many matches he's w

if he was the only batsmen who failed in that match you could have blamed him. Bt all others failed too. sachin atleass played till the finals, but no one except dravid played well in any of the other matches. Even ponting, lara, flopped many times in crucial matches.

But people call him great not only becos of his records, but because of his consistency and performance.

Dear friend,

I don't know why are you targetting here Sachin. (May be its ur frustation only.)

If u say, SRT has not helped INDIA to No. 1 test team, then u should keep in mind that not a single player can take team to No.1. Bowlers win Test matches. And please tell me TestMatchWinning Bowlers in Indian team since SRT joined Indian team. Apart from Kumble, I don't think of anybody else. To certain extent Srinath and Bhajji (Australia 2001 series.)

If u mention Dravid and Laxman played and won matches, then keep in mind they got help from the bowlers in those tests. If u take example of Australia-India series 2003.
1. Adelaide test - Dravid, Laxman centuries AGARKAR 6 wickets, (SACHIN taking 2 crucial wickets of Martyn, Steve Waugh) to restrict target 230 odd runs for India
2. Same series Sydney test - Sachin scores century, No bowler to bowl out Australia. It was no fault of Sachin.

Constructive criticism is good but in ur case it seems just ur jealosy or frustation about Sachin's fame. Don;t know what u have done for the country.

U can come up with ur doubts ... will try to clear them out.

- Chetan.

Oomshik Tooshik seems a cynical case shud be immediately taken to a psychiatrist. Let him first understand that this forum is about giving our views on India's performance in Today's test match. Today Schewag and Gambir scored centuries and Rahul is also set in for a 100. Sachin is yet to open up. Before that you can see how many cynics like you take on Sachin - that itself shows how much he is influencing his critics even before he opens up his batting fleuncy. If few hundred critics like you in a country of over a billion influenced by Sachin on a day's play where he has done nothing - you cant stop a billion of his followers adore the little master blaster - and for all the statistics you show about Sachin - you first ask yourself few questions - how much you contributed for your own personality, career and to your employer and family. How many of you guys faced a situation like Sachin at his prime youth to live upto the expectation of a billion people.
There is no cricket without statistics and there is no statistics without Sachin. You may be blindfolded to what Sachin has achieved -as you guys are not going to affect him in any way.

both teams should forget about winning the match. this match would probably turn out to be another statistical delight for the historians. somewhere around 2000 runs would scored, bowlers would go for a leatherhunt, fielders would rue drop catches/missed run outs (already sri lankan fielders would be kickin themselves for dropping sehwag), match would crawl for 5 days so neo sports wont complain either....all in all another nail in test crickets' coffin....
