India should salute to this icon for his services to Indian Cricket. He has been shadowed always by the great Sachin and an aggressive Ganguly. One should also make a note out of these 11000 runs how many have come when team is in real crisis.
Since Dravid came into the Indian side, he has scored more runs than Sachin. Remember Sachin had a head stsrt of 5 -6 years. More number of matches are won / saved by Dravid. Now that makes him better???

if so then why did player like viru and gambhir and sachin fail miserably? got out for cheap like cheap skilled batsmen?
With no media hype ( infact anti due to Dada,'s Chamchas) this great cricketer has broken several world records and has been the most responsible cricketer India has ever produced. Dhoni was given his due only because it was Dravid the then captain who without any hesitation refrained from playing the T-20 WC, the first one.One should remember that sele4ctors were forced to recall DEravid for ODI's and he was the highest scorer although India went out early in the recent Champions Trophy. They will be forced to recall Dravid Again and again.

177 runs by Dravid out of 386 and its not out. What were the other guys doing? Where the adjectives and adverbs that is used generally when Sachin or Ricki Ponting achieves a milestone. Rahul is given a raw deal by media, selectors, ... His achievements for India are second to none."

You are right. There is no valid reason he should be drpped for one dayers. He defenitely should have been included in the series against australia. But unfortunately he does not belong to Delhi or Mumbai.

but for the media pubic hair sachin is the best... all others effort or achievements shouldnt be considered. even if viru score 2 triple century ..or dhoni makes India win 100 times.. or if vishy win world championship ...none of them cannot be called as great ...the only other player who was media attention was ganguly but he too got a raw deal by the selectors & even tendua was jealous of him
i believe "the wall" title was given to rahul dravid by reebok inc in 1999-2000 since then he has come to be known as "the wall" a befitting name to an outstanding player whose contribution to indian cricket is invaluable
