It may be true that Laxman's captaincy is not suited for T20!!!! But in IPL-1 he captained & played only 6/7 matches and the rest was captained Gilchrist only. It was not bcoz of captaincy but it was bcoz of collective failure of Gibbs,Symonds,Afridi etc. that Deccan lost. Only Venugopal Rao and Gilchrist was among the runs. And to talk about bowlers it was better avoid that talk. R.P.singh was clobbered and there was no Ojha or R.Harris. The situation was different and they had to score like mountain in India. That, simply their batsmen could not do. Thats why they were the wooden spoon holders!!

Agreed. Its utter non sense to put blame on Laxman. He did not even play half the season and Gilly was the captain for the rest of the time

After straight 5-6 losses the teams morals will be low and one has to understand that the a captain needs some time to turnaround things...
Anil Kumble on the other side has proved that he is one of the rare gems...I hope Mallayya will realise this and continue him as captain in next season...

oh spare us the crap aussie lovers. Gilly was a bad captain last year since the team wasnt performing. This year the team is performing and he is milking the fame.

True and hope Malleya keep him as captain over Kevin Farterson. It's just amazing how many still so impresed with White skin.
Afridi needs to know Gilchrist captained in half of the matches last year and won only one.
The difference between last year and this year for Chargers is their batting and Afridi factor. Gilchrist and Gibbs both completey failed last year, and they both played well this year. And they had no Afridi this year, a man who can single handedly destroy his own team..

kp the most expensive player bought by mallya needs sacking. v r ignoring our own players. kumble did the job in best possible manner leading from the front.

but what about consistency about him.he play irresponsible shot in many crucial situation that cost them defeat.its happened many times.what dose it means agressive in every time. u need to what situation demand. he is a good player obviously but not that good so that you can say he is the no 1 you see. so i also told u watch few more games from past and present and u wil find great alrounders like kapil dev, kallis, cairns and many more..........

I think u have short term memory loss like aamir in ghajini..it should be reverse...he is worst player who just hits the ball blindly without reading its length

Yes he is the Best Player to do bhow bhow and kill morale of his own team. See what happened to Chargers last year when Afridi was part of it

well said Afridi. Each and every word is filled with true facts. Brahmaji, you don't seem to be a person with good knowledge about players. You better read mythological books.
When we are given an aptitude test (at School or Enterance Tests) one popular question is grouping of like items. No marks for guessing the below group

Good batsmen need NOT be good captains! As a batsman Afridi also contributed significantly to the Chargers'downfall last year, but what he has written is a fact and an honest criticism.

Laxman is not iconic. He gave it up to buy good players for the team. A grave mistake as he is probably realizing now.

He was Hyderabad's (Deccan Chargers) Iconic Player last year, correct me if I am wrong and its' captain. You are right about the "giving up" ...all the above did nothing to write home about while they were/are captains of their respectives sides in IPL Season 1 and 2 ...

Afridi has conveniently forgotten that , Gilchrist captained Deccan in 7 matches and could win only 1
This guy was the worst performer in the first IPL, scoring ducks in almost all the matches. He has no right to talk about captaincy or any other player for that matter.
Afridi never said that "he can only perform under Gilchrist". He is very clear in stating that the decision that captain should take according to situation is not best from Great Laxman. He is lacking that quality that even Thirumala Shetty Suman can do.I remember one match in the first IPL in which Symonds scored well but he was given the crucial final over to bowl and he gave out all the 20 runs needed for the opponent's win. Can't imagine the good result if this same afridi is given the final over he could have easily beaten the opponent.
