Too many experiments
by Arun Kumar on May 17, 2009 01:52 PM

MI made too many changes to their batting line up which actually did not help their cause. Sachin should have opened with Jayasuriya. Bravo should have been asked to do what he does best for Windies, bat lower down the order and score quick runs. Sachin's lack of confidence in his lower order combined with not so good bowling throughout the tournament are the reasons for MI's poor performance.

Sachin's presence will not win any Cup
by km vb on May 17, 2009 01:42 PM

Sachin playing for many years for self made him that he plays for self only but not for Country and for the team , so his presence will not give a good symptom to win any major cup for INDIA and for any team he play as a member or captain or coach.

Sachin - The culprit
by space on May 17, 2009 12:53 PM  | Hide replies

when auction happened he told that he picked only match winners..oh god, these match winners are not able to reach semis for 2 years and they will never do that..thanks to sachin's greatness in not playing when needed..he proves again and again that he is not a match winner and he plays only for personal records..if the records are not converted to India's win then those records are actually SHIT..still he wants to play many more years and spoil players like raina, rohit etc..i never seen such a selfish player.. The true great players are bradman,Lara, hayden, steve waugh,vv richards,border..

it is a foolish statement against such a great player. Cricket is the team game and to win a match each player have to contribute to eam effort. I think sachin has done his part rightly but his other team members had not jastified thier talent .

I can understand the angst and the emotional pain that you are going thru...it is very difficult for an Indian to stomach the success of a fellow Indian.....no wonder you did not mention the names of other Indian cricketers like Gava and Kapil.............

And i'am also 100% sure that you are a non-entity in your own life....

It is all Sachin's fault
by shubhchintak on May 17, 2009 12:34 PM

It is all Sachin's fault

Every team has a good balance of Australian and South African players who know thier game. Besides every name is worthy of playing in the T20 format. Look at the MI team - Sachin due to his selfish nature did not include big names though they had the money power (thanks to Ambani) to purchase the top most players.

Every team has won thanks to their effective combination. MI selected players according to Tendulkar's whims and fancies...and now loser is big bucks Ambani. A good combination of players would have helped. Barring Jayasuriya who else was there... all new faces. Bhajji cannot win matches on his own and the same goes for Zaheer... they were in the team because they do 'chamachgiri' for Sachin.

But again Gandulkar does not like people going ahead of him. There are many players who had to leave thanks to his politics. (Kambli being the most promising player was out of the team long time back). Even many Ranji players are good but they never get the chance thanks to this selfish person. And how much can one depend on Jayasuriya...he was also dropped for petty reasons from a crucial match. All bloody politics.

Now he will ask for a new Ferrari!!!

mumbai shown the door by chennai
by Sriram Govindarajan on May 17, 2009 10:17 AM  | Hide replies

I cant' ask for anything better than this...this is a reality check for the commentators like gavaskar, harsha etc...gavaskar at one point of time even said that sachin is too good a player to be kept out even when not in form before sachin got out on 11...this shows that noone is greater than the game.....hats off to chennai....sachin even after so many years of playing cricket(he is playing right from his birth, hence those records) could not get a thing or two abt leading and inspiring a side to win.....

the basic point of all winning cricket teams (as for as i know) is that balance, versitality and lack of weak links.

Mumbai indian 's selectors, got the picking wrong. MI always had couple of weak players in all the matches, never got the balance right and more importantly, their so called dual purpose players played miserably. (lower middle order which scores quick runs in the death and shd bowl couple of overs).

More importantly Tendulkar was pathetic as a captain (as always)

May be my comments could hurt some mumbaikars but i tried to be as honest as possible.

Exactly mate..u put it right..the myth of Tedulkar is only the creation of his rich media sponsors and Mumabi backing commentators like Sunny & Harsha Bhogle..He IS a very good batsman, but was never "THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME" or even our time. Lara, Steve Waugh, Hayden etc were always better than this guy.And this IPL has once again proved that he has no cricketing skills as a captain or any leadership skills..

without cricketing skills you can't get 30k runs mate! i accept that he is the worst captain ever but he is a genius with the bat.

SIr, I said "cricketing skills as captain" not "criceting skills". And I guess, I alrady mentioned in my same post, that Sachin IS a good batsman..I oppose only 2 things of this guy..his leadershop skills and the claims of being "the greatest ever"...

Sachin loosing his image
by km vb on May 17, 2009 10:05 AM  | Hide replies

Sachin is loosing his image.

Preferable option for IPL -Sack Pollock and Sachin to become a Coach.

For ODI-Sachin should give away his place to many youngsters who are now playing for IPL.

Will Sachin learn from his team EXIT from IPL.

IS Mumbai really out of COntention for semi finals
by sumit on May 17, 2009 09:51 AM  | Hide replies

To me mumbai can still make into semi finals if punjab, rajasthan and bangalore loose their all matches and thats very much possible as they are against the tops teams and they dont have single match among themselves...And at the same time mumbai has to win their last match to make. But one thing if The points are tied is it runrate or Head to head meeting that will decide the fate '

You are right, theoretically Mumbai still has a chance. If the other 3 contenders lose their games (2 each), and Mumbai wins its game with a good margin, then it may sneak in with 13 points. But remember, RR plays KKR, and that may be a done deal!
