Kudos to MS Gill for saying it as it is. IPL makes mockery of crickettt and is nothing more than a commercial enterntainment reality show. It shudnt be considered as a sports league.
Whatever private sector is doing, WE ARE GETTING GOOD QUALITY AND LOADED WITH EXCITEMENT ENTERTAINMENT. EVERYONE IS EARNING AND HAPPY. Don't know why to make issue out of it.
Yes. It is funny to expect even an astrologer to be able to predict how many runs will be scored off each of the six balls in an over.
For a few years now, TV channels and newspapers have been doing this service of generating cash for mobile companies by asking viewers / readers to answer questions on various topics almost every day.
What amazes me is that in some such competitions, there are guys without any job or work, who neither say yes nor no, but take the trouble of sending an SMS to say that they "can't say" or "don't know"!

I think both Pawar and Dalmia are equally responsible. Post 1987 when cricket (especially ODI format) moved to subcontinent in a big way, and commercial sposnorships started getting involved. T20 makes it even easier for all manipulators.
The whole IPL set up is only for Gambling and not for Cricket. Modi got scared that if the IPL matches are not played then he will lose millions which he must be winning by betting on the winning teams because the whole IPL is totally rigged and he must be deciding which team wins and which one loses.
Now, it seems that owners of teams like Mumbai Indians and Kolkatta Knight Readers must also be happily earning big money by betting on the teams playing against their team as their teams are happily and easily losing the matches though they have cricketers known for playing to win, but are forced to lose.
For those who want to speculate, influence government to introduce speculation and betting games legal. I can suggest hundreds of speculation contests. But spare the game, let it be played in its spirit. For those who like to speculate, make SMS contests or contests in websites sponsored by Government:
1) What will be the max and min temperature in Delhi tomorrow?
2) Whether it will rain in Chennai tomorrow?
3)What will be the number of vehicles passing through Howrah bridge tomorrow?
4) What will be the voters turnout in the last phase of elections?
... BUT SPARE THE GAME, LET IT BE PLAYED IN ITS SPIRIT.

Good point. People can play satta on any event with uncertainty associated with it. Have you seen the fantasy cricket games on zapak or ibibo cricex? Even they encourage gambling, right?
