That is armtwisting!!
by Bhasmasur Rakshas on Apr 01, 2009 12:17 AM

This is the worst example of subtle string pulling and a blatant attempt at arm twisting.......
It is only a reflection of the inordinate and lopsided power wielded by the BCCI in cricketing circles..

Having power and clout is not bad per se, but if that power is used to shoulder butt weaker boards and force them to put on the blacklist players affiliated to the ICL, then that is a blatant misuse of power...

What right has the BCCI got to hijack the careers of Mohammad Yousuf, Shane Bond, Chris Harris, Jason Gillespie??

Were it not for the power twisting by the BCCI, these players would not have been blacklisted by their respective boards......

Sad reflection of our times where economic clout has taken precedence over cricketing ability!!

Government Should Nationalise BCCI
by S iyer on Apr 01, 2009 12:03 AM  | Hide replies

I think it's high time for Goverment of India to nationalise BCCI and takeover all the properties and funds of BCCI. BCCI should become 100% government body and should be managed by paid administrators and paid selectors. Selection of the players for national team should be purely based on rating point system. Every match played by every registered cricketer of BCCI shoud add a point to his credit.

After this security hullgulla of IPL, any new government should take this step.

It's because of money BCCI behaves like a full mejority government.

Their Dadagiri should be stopped in near future.

Close ICL, join IPL: BCCI told Subhash Chandra
by Guest on Mar 31, 2009 11:08 PM  | Hide replies

BCCI has given a fair deal to Subhash Chandra. As ICL is a flop show so it will be better to close it.It is better for the players too because from this league their performance never counted while at IPL each & every players performance seen by the selectors.

ICL
by Suraksha on Mar 31, 2009 10:09 PM  | Hide replies

The sad story with ICL is it was a good idea with poor leadership. ICL started it all, when IPL came and stole its show by being 'official' and of course a well managed show too.

ICL's big blunder was it underestimated BCCI's clout when deciding to go alone and also didnot have enough in place to stand by its own.

ICL can be stubborn to stay afloat and may be get lucky sometime to be a sought after rebel league. But that too requires an outstanding leadership. Subhash Chandra unfortunately is not class material. So the hope of it seem dwindling. Kapil's only aggressive onslaughts havent been helpful either. A shrewd end game player like Dalmiya is the hope, may be?

ICL is the original one and was initiated by Kapil . The idea was then hijacked by IPL promoters and they have bigger clout and hence it got more popular. If ICL gets people like Dalmiya,.... who are known to be good administrators and also are not happy with BCCI style of functioning then it will grow bigger as well.

No Dear. ICL was notKapil's idea. It was Subhash Chandra's idea to begin with and he roped in Kapil and others to run the show. At the same time, even it was not Subhash Chandra's novel idea. Lalit Mody of BCCI in fact came out with EPL style Cricket league long before ICL was even conceptualized and even presented it to BCCI committee. But the them Dalmiya led BCCI shot it down.

You are right, Modi proposed the idea as back as in 1993. BCCI (read Dalmiya) at point was focussing on World Cup 96 and his chance to make it big through it's success. He eventually became the President of ICC and poor Modi had to wait so many years for this recognition.

Go ILC

So the BCCI GOONS have been doing a good job of defaming ICL. Clearly, ICL is in its initial stages of growth, like any other business organization. It has showed tremendous potential last year, therefore, the BCCI thugs are doing anything they can to squash ICL.

So who is stopping ICL to continue the show? ICL is not finding sponsors and that is not BCCI's fault. ICL is not paying its players and it is not BCCI's fault. BCCI played hardball, but then so would any business organization!

by Anerbban Dutta on Mar 31, 2009 09:43 PM  | Hide replies

I feel sorry for Chandra/Pawar/Modi when these foolish tie-up flash!
Actually all r tremendously hungry for MONEY n so utilising various Celebrities from various angles.Mr.Chandra where ur passion for sports goes when we write u about I-League???No Profit so dont care.ICL=peoples sentiment,so sell it.I mean it for Mr.Pawar powerless now, anti-congress and narcotics dealing accused Mr.Modi no more RCA President! That is why they thrown a deal to trap Mr.Chandra to create their platform before they dissappear. Its all Polical, diplomatic, shelfish strategies of them.
I gave 2eg:(1>CRICKET vs I-League 2> Pawar,Modi offering Deal to Chandra suddenly now)
3rd eg:-When Sourav was playing all big shots apart exception cheered against 34 players! Did anyone heard a single byte of this issue once he announced retirement!?Now,its a good blend of EXPERIENCE & YOUTH. Once again VVS/Sachin/Dravid came to rescue(all 34 ).Whats wrong with Sourav/Kumble?No one could dictate them apart Respected Mr.Dalmiya.So throw Mr.Dalmiya,Sourav,Kumble.Now,when they are thrown planning underneath against the opponents taking advantage of Election!
4>Just watch How Diplomat these Modis are? When they couldnt hold power in state or Govt. they diplomatically moved IPL beyond INDIA.Its a shame for us to present our Honourable Force as uncapable to deal tough situation. It could have called off! Now,planning to move Sourav frm captaincy.Kolkata name erased.Next year it may be GujratKK!

The Govt of India should not issue Visas to the Indian players to go to South Africa (through any route) for playing in IPL.
This will bring down Modis and Pawars to earth.
These people are greedy for money and are throwing our Country's pride.
Dr MMS and Pranab Mukerjee....are you listening?
Pl do as suggested
