India....
by Anurag Rathore on Mar 31, 2009 10:24 AM  | Hide replies

Only a champion team can save match from this situation. It's first time that NZ couldn't win the match after enforcing follow-on to opponent team in home.
However I feel it was poor performance by India against number 7 team. We should win next test as well as series.

No real Pace Bowler in both teams. One Pace bowler who bowls regularly at 145 km/h and two who can touch above 140 gives a shiver in newcome batsmen.
This test doesnt had such situation and the newcomers find enough time to settle on the crease without any trouble due to lack of genuine pace bowler.
Moreover when settled they are not troubled by slow bowlers, not spinners. For there is no spin at all and if it spinned the line and length always remained the same.

So the standard of bowling went down and hence we were supposed to win this series. But have to go further to claim No.1 status.

India - a balanced side now
by Ashish Kumar on Mar 30, 2009 08:47 PM

Quite a few critics are pointing out that India is lucky in not getting the kind of pitches previous Idian teams got. I think it is because of balance in the Indian attack. If they make a seaming green track the pace attack of Indian team will run through their batting. It is this balance of terror that is keeping curators in check.

Gambir is our future

What a player!! He has the quality of achieving a much greater height and could be remembered in the same platform as Sachin, Laxman, Rahul, and Sehwag. He is the only player who can be aggressive, and at the same time can apply himself like a "wall" in between the wickets for long time when necessary. He is the only one who is delivering consistently in One-day, 20-20, and test matches. He is becoming a class of his own, and a tough act to follow after the superlative performance. We Indians should all be proud of him, and wish him all the success.

Fakruddinji,
Minority? India has more muslims than any other country in the world. The way the Islamic population is multiplying in India and Christianity is spreading by conversions, Hindus will be a minority in this country by middle of this century. Muslims in India should understand that they live in safety and they do not need to breed like other muslims in war zone middleeast, pakistan and afghanistan.

Munaf is a good bowler. But he has to raise the level of his game. He is capable of getting more wickets if he wants to. Munaf needs a good capatin to guide him to bowl well.

Poor Vettori!
by indira on Mar 30, 2009 04:16 PM  | Hide replies

Vettori must be ruining his decision to make the Indians follow on. The Indian batsmen made his bowlers slog for three full days while our bowlers got rest and will now be fresh for the final test. on the other hand, Kiwi bowlers bowled almost 270 overs among themselves and will be both physically and mentally tired and now will have to motivate themselves for the 3rd test.
Vettori should have realised that India is too good a team to collapse a second time and his bowlers got success in the 1st innings because the Indian batsmen gave away their wickets. Had his team played for 2 sessions and then declared, his bowlers would have been fresh and who knows might have got success.

Sachin & Rahul also played a big role in saving this Test match apart from Gambhir & Laxman.

Hope Dhoni returns
by India on Mar 30, 2009 02:00 PM

If Sehwag is captain in next test then India will certainly lose. Giving 4 runs an over to NZ for 150 overs in a TEST match does not bode well for the captain. It shows how sloppy the field setting must have been. Dropped catches also reflect on the captain's authority over team.
