One of the reasons for performances of India in the past is because of performance of Gambir or Sehwag or both. So,if Gambir plays well, rest can play and we can save the match. Once we get lead of 250 . Ishant and bhajji will be the keys. Ishant should his height and hit the dicks always on good length areas, tease batsman on and off the stump. Bhajji should spin the ball
Just out of curiosity, why our bowlers were not able to strike the chord and reap the wickets as the BlackCaps did? Was the bowling lacking the venom or is it due to MSD not there?

our batsmen threw away wickets.Ryder was patient and gathered runs.dravid was out flashing at a delivery that should have been well left.Yuvraj should have waited.Karthik should have not tried that shot without moving feet

Our Bowling is basically weak. We win almost all matches on batting Strength. Rarely our bowlers are winning the matches.

Because of May be they are just tired of too much winning these days.
indians were not determined to fight the battle when it is highly required be 10dulkar,the wall drawid, the stylish yuvaraj,...etc they dont play for the nation but for money. for eg.IPL.which has benefitted the players to very laaaaarge extent. please god save ur boys or else end up paying for the advertisement. please tendulkar, dravid, vvs laxman, play for the nation with total commitment then you will be worthy son of india.or else the nation will not respect your achievements done so far.
Team selection , electing to bat first, choosing the right bowlers at right time, field placements..
but his master stroke was selecting Jeetan patel..he fancied his chances even after knowing Indians are good players of spin..Patel held his nerves and got his team some priceless wickets on a placid batting track..
Shewag, Gambhir, Yuvaraj and their likes should learn the importance of defensive batting from Dravid or Laxman. Of course aggression brings run, but it is associated with inherent risks. these batsman should play themself in. Let the scoring be 1 run per over for the entire day and the match is saved. I think Indians would be losing the match, as there are not good defenders except for Dravid and Laxman.

Did laxman or dravid play the whole day today? Did defensive batting succeed today? The problem is we seem to believe that defensive play wd always succeed. The point i am making is one needs to have blend of defence and attack. Being overtly aggressive or very defensive wd help no one. Play the ball on its merits would be helpful.

Being too defensive can put extra pressure on incoming batsmen. It will also give good psychological advantage to the bowlers

Too much defensive can put the bowlers on top. Can cause psychological pressure on incoming batsmen as well.
