u people are removing the comments from the discussion board which speaks against IPL and in favour of Govt. I think this column in rediff is the PR initiative by BCCI and Lalit modi. Dear Chidu, Please tell SA govt not to allow this IPL to take place at all. Our govt can use diplomatic pressure. This is the best way to tame Lalit Modi(Barking man) and Sharad Pawar( Dumb man)
i think its much safer to host the IPL-2 outside india as the elections are just around the corner as if god forbid something similar to lahore incident would have happened in india then we would have to pay a heavy price as the Commonwealth games as well as the ICC WC 2010 would be lost from india hence we r better safe than sorry!!!

Pros:-Our local players will get exposed to variety of different pitches and conditions.
Cons:-Cost,for example in places like in westindies,Aus and NZ only people from Indian diaspora might be interested.The foreigners might label it as an outside thingy.

dear rediff, please use ur language and words properly. we dont want cricket . we want free and safe elections. the languge used by you is in favour of BCCI and IPL. dO you think managing the elections all over india at this time of high terrorism activities is a joke? our govt did a right job by prefering elections over cricket. mr.chidmabaram rightly asked the IPL to postpone the shedule because he didnt want to take chances. running both cricket and elections at the same time means compromising with security. and i dont think its not worth deputing NSG and military people to gaurd this higly overrated cricketrs and the people associated with them. We dont want cricket, BCCI and the people who run the show. they have insulted the nation by blaming the govt again and again , that too before the foreign countries.
