So, am I safe ...?
by Bharatwasi on Mar 23, 2009 09:28 PM  | Hide replies

I understand security forces will be strained during election period. Mr. Chidambaram, am I safe to travel to my office during election month? Please clarify this as I don't want to be killed just because all police officers are busy protecting polling stations.

Hi Mr.Chidambaram,
Pls stop the blaming game. We definitely would have IPL matches held as per the schedule without any issues. Reason why You and your Govt did not agree might be because Congress did not get Fund for election Or No trust on our Security Officers or Our Security Force is not capable of handling both Election and IPL matches. Ultimately the Govt is not interested because they concentration is only thinking about coming back to power either Hick or hook
Your government has done nothing apart from proving People of India as beggars. We do not expect you to Waive the loans rather increase the capability of the People to Pay back the loans and increase the per capita income, increase more employment and utilize our hard earned Tax money properly.
I think you all the politicians have to work towards India Inc. and there has to be Performance appraisals every year. Depending on the Performance and the feedback from their respective constituency and the Positions they hold and all the defined parameters and metrics achieved, one has to be retained, Fired or Promoted.
Since all the politicians enjoy and do not face this heat during their regime, they do not care about anything.
We will teach you all this time by casting our Vote.

If possible they can conduct the last phase of the Trnt including Semis & Final IN India......

I don't care IPL. But what about security of ordinary people. During the entire month, state police forces will be busy protecting polling stations only. What about buses, trains, offices, cinema halls and other public places...? It is a hard reality. I never felt so insecure. It seems Mumbai attacks have shaken the courage of our security force and the government.

I'm desperate about my security. It is the Government that has accepted that it can't provide security. If they can't provide safety to few players, what about me?

Nobody in world so called terrorists never attacks or target you just common people, they target only few persons who got most name n fame. So it is difficult to give them protection at the time of election. Election is begger event than any sport. U people of India first know that. IPL is not a nationa game or anything elese, it one of the business thats all.

What a stupid statement. You were lucky not to be in trains and public places where bomb blasts happened. Accept it. Election is merely an excuse! We need security all the time everywhere! They need better strategies for this.

one is fogetting that when terror are targeting election also then we have to concentrate more on election. if at the same time mataches are held and something happen then world will think that india is also become not correct place for game. In fact organisor have shown that they are only behind money they don't care for the country. Matter would have been solved if they have changed the dates. Here there is no question of BJP or congress. It is wrong to say that BJP can provide security because they have confidence on their police then please remember what happend in bangalore and gujrath [ bomb blast are taken place in last two years] even they are bjp owned state.

where is the question of BJP or congress? Election is merely an excuse! terrorists can strike anywhere anytime surprising everyone. No terrorist will ever try to attack a fully equipped police/security guards. The truth is after about 61 years, we still don't have strategies in place to provide adequate security to common people. This is absolutely a shameful situation that a sporting event (however small/insignificant) was forced outside India, just because government can't assure safety. It will be better if India also outsource Asiad and other events to China.

IPL shifting out a shame.... response of Chidambram
by purush cohl on Mar 23, 2009 09:22 PM  | Hide replies

So our Home Minister says in response that many people felt 2002 in Gujarat was a shame. And that probably gives a licence to Home Minister to carry out activities which are a shame. Someonetickle me. I want to laugh. I feel sorry we have such people at helm of affairs.

it seems that you are idiot because he has not shown anything like to say that he has been given licence to carry out activity which are a sham. His meaning is that what is shame should not be taught by mr. modi because the riots were actually sham [according to him] It absolutely correct that he asked for postponement of dates of matches. It is sham on part of organiser that they inspite of knowing the election and strain what security peoples are having, were stubborn on playing game for that particular period.

if IPL cannot wait till elections, and want to conduct them abroad, then it means that they want indian public's money only. they donot mind what happens to india, Then why not the goverment tax them say 90 % of their income from the game.

The dons of cricket in India (the Board) gone to the extent of saying that the cricket team is not of India but of BCCI. The word national is allergic to them.

What are they doing there ?
by Vira on Mar 23, 2009 09:15 PM

The cricket control should always be in the hands of retired cricketers from Indian team. They command respect of the people and also from the international cricketing fraternity.

What are the likes of Lalit Modi (now kicked out I suppose) and this whoever shetty are doing in BCCI. Why are they given those posts in the first place? Clense our sporting system and kick these people out. We are disgusted the way it became a business ( like every thing else in this country) for political ends. We do not want any non-sports man /woman in sporting executive committees of India. The politician maggots are eating our country away atleast spare our sporting system.

PC is hitting back at everybody

like a person from opposition party; not like a Minister. He must be practising in advance. He is jumping from moved out IPL to Gujarat Riots. Both are separate subjects.Gujarat riots is a healed wound.IPL is a fresh damage inviting future consequences for the Game as well as global business from India. As the most efficient finance minister, as he thinks of himself, he should understand this.
But Jaitley said when PC was FM, the investments were not safe; when he is HM, the country is not safe. There must be strong reason for the Madam to move him out of FM.Anyone else would have become a HM.
There is a third aspect. When PC travels, the air hostesses are not safe. If you don't believe, check with some.

Please let you know that HM is a higher position than FM. People are well known to the fact PC is far better FM than your chap Yashwant Sinha. Gujarat riots still not a healed wound for the victims.

HM wants to ensure safe elections by providing adequate security to the people. Gujarat riots were perpetuated by State government which is a state sponsored act of terrorism

terror attacks and bomb blasts kills people from all walks of life. In 26/11 43 muslims killed at CST.

Where as the communal riots were targetted at particular community.

Police and military were called and people rescued from terrorists. where as in 2002 police uttered " we have no orders to protect you"

please now tell which wounds will be healed.
