Shame on our Country
by gautam patel on Mar 23, 2009 10:45 AM  | Hide replies

It is a shame on our country that we incapable for holding the event here. Can we ever imagine to hold an Olympics then, when we are unable to conduct even a domestic tournament of IPL stature? If our systems are unable to cope up with such situations which have an advance schedule in place, how will we cope up in an emergency situation?

What is shameful in it man? Govt would have estimated the police forces required and then taken this decision. Anyways, what is more important for us - Providing security to Voters or to the Audience?

Mr Chidambaram - The clean villain

We can never again see a villain in so spotless white attire. He tried for a deal which went sour.Political parties need moolah for election and they cannot afford those funds to be diverted for cricket.End of the day it is us the cricket fan's loss.

The Cricket players and organizers need as much moolah as the politicians. Cricket fans should do better work than waste time on soaps like cricket

MONEY OR CRICKET
by Vinu Mon on Mar 23, 2009 10:42 AM  | Hide replies

I doubt BCCI stands for Cricket or Money ??

Check any big democracies, when general election is going on, no other major events can be conducted.

It was BCCI's utter foolishness that they scheduled this event during election time.

It is very clear that we can not give security, that is the reason we are conducting the election in 5-6 phases. above that how govt can give security for IPL, after the pakistan shoot out !

It is political game planned by BCCI. BCCI should dissolved after this drama. An association above the govt control should not control indian players.

BCCI
by Nayak Nayak on Mar 23, 2009 10:37 AM  | Hide replies

BCCI has politicalised the mega event at the cost of India's pride. It is a shame that to earn money an Organisation has stooped to the level of taking the game out of India's border. For a republic country elections are most important than anything else. But selling the popularity of cricket to a foreign country is shameful and to be condemned. IPL should be held in India otherwise BCCI should not be allowed to hold it in India in future. Let them call it as English Premier League henceforth.

My Q is, why is govt trying to say indirectly that everything should be shut down during elections???? Do they mean the security of our country is soooo bad that govt cannot concentrate on two things simultaneously??
Pathetic!!!

But BCCI could have waited till the elections are over. What is the mighty hurry? For any democratic nation first comes the elections then everything else. By conducting the tourney outside the country BCCI has played politicised the entire issue. BCCI need to be disciplined.
