by Guest on Mar 23, 2009 11:03 AM  | Hide replies

I Don't think IPL Matched are to be shifted to other country. There will be huge money transaction will go to abroad instaid it should happen in india. As responsible indians we have to give priroty to our elections.

Ok dude. Then, go & seek permission from Home Minister to conduct the event in India. Are you crazy or what?. Have you not seen various dramas around???. Dont simply blame that IPL has been shifted & there would be an impact on transactions. Dont you know that you & me and general public are not going to be benefited in either way?. Its good that IPL has been shifted to Abroad so that we can watch it & also have a safe election.

IPL should happen in india, there is no point to contact in aboard. This is IPL indian premier legue. APL aboard premier legue. we cannot tolerate having a aboard venue

BCCI IS A SHAME !!
by Vinu Mon on Mar 23, 2009 11:00 AM  | Hide replies

I doubt BCCI stands for Cricket or Money ??

Check any big democracies, when general election is going on, no other major events can be conducted.

It was BCCI's utter foolishness that they scheduled this event during election time.

It is very clear that we can not give security, that is the reason we are conducting the election in 5-6 phases. above that how govt can give security for IPL, after the pakistan shoot out !

It is political game planned by BCCI. BCCI should dissolved after this drama. An association above the govt control should not control indian players.

Why Congress Chiddu did not want IPL in election season?
by sanjay on Mar 23, 2009 10:56 AM  | Hide replies

Why Congress Chiddu did not want IPL in election season?

1) Nobody will attend rallies
2) Nobody listen to their boaring speeches.
3) Journos will go to matches
4) Nobody will see leaders faces on TV.
5) So less exposure.

and last cricket (IPL) unites India whereas these leaders devide India.

And at a venue a single day match and election may collide that could have been avoided. They could not have been played on voting day there. Why no matches on entire period?

This decision of staging IPL outside India will send a wrong message to d world that India cant' even organise its own tournament in INDIA due to security reasons.Wold have been better if this tournament was postponned or cancelled

Why you try to potray wrong message.. Security is concerned because of Election and IPL falling in same period of time.. at least there would have been no problem. India is very well capable to host such tournaments..

Yes. India is not in a position to organise its own tournament. That is the truth. Your Respected Home Minister has very clearly showd that. We should accept the facts.

why give so much importance for cricket
by Ambadi on Mar 23, 2009 10:53 AM  | Hide replies

Cricketers are making money like anything and we are cheering for them. To give them a bonus there is this IPL where in other big giants also pool in( film stars) to double there money. When the Nation is suffering from price hikes and recession these people are making money like anything. We can undoubtfuly say that BCCI is one of the biggest income generating power house in the country and no Govt will say against it. In the midst of these elections and professional exams it was totaly unecessary to hold the IPL. These players, officials and Film stars are really mad. They just think of making more and more money. They wont think of the normal people in India who are suffering because of this economic recession. There are many without a job and many more who have lost job. When will the politicians start thinking of common mans problems. GOD ONLY KNOWS. Till then lets cheer for these cricketers and film stars for making good money.

Ambadi is not jealous...he is only highlighting excesses in our system. We guys are too small to be jealous of Dhoni, Sachin, Bhajji, etc., People are only highlighting how our priorities are going for a toss in a herd mentality.

There is a saying 'Too much is too bad'.

IPL tournament is an optional one for any Indian. If you love it, enjoy it. Spend time. If you feel it is not worthwhile, ignore it. I can not understand talking bad logic-- we are having exams, we are having elections, we are poor. No one is asking you to suffer because of the match which is a sport and entertainment of 3 hours duration.

Of course Congress govt played politics to rub off Lalit Modi first and then Pawar who are aginst Congree party interests.

Elections are between 8 am to 5 pm. and anyway 3 days buffer has been provided for fixing dates. Maha DGP and Home Minister has given OK, but CM who wants to settle score with NCP Dy CM/HM plays the game. What a shame that Indian Govt is afarid of terror and postpones sports just for that. What about large no of roadside election meetings.

Sonia is now havaing a meeting of about 2 lacs people in Karnataka. Police is meant for politicians but not for people and other events like public entertainment.

What a pity with congress govt which always puts country interests into last priority. That is what BJP has been shouting and now they have been proved right.

Rara - Dont you see the difference between the importance of 'Administration' and 'Entertainment'? The second one is for short term happiness, excitement and fun. You cannot run a country with IPL tournament. Political process is much much higher in its importance and implications for us.

Its shame for us! A black paint which can not be removed has been painted on the face of this country by this Govt. Are we so weak, fragile that we can not host a sporting event along with election come on ! Congress has declared India as unsafe place when we are going for general election!
This is the leadership failure of Cong-I Govt. People must teach a lesson if they really love their country.
They can only show the mussles to poor transporter and employee of Public Sector.
SHAME! SHAME ! SHAME!

2. next day AP and MAHA govt assure IPL staging along with all other govt..
3. very next day MAH home minister assures 'no problem' with IPL
4. Next day bot CM say 'NO' to IPL..

isn't it some central diktat behind ? sab politics hai

It shows the way of working the govt. meeting, meeting and no decision. Do u know u just right the letter to any department for knowing the name of CEO. the file goes through 20 people and it will take 2-3 months, thats the way our govt. work
I appriciate the IPL, they are having all the alternative, even within the short period they are having all the option open.

Shame on our Country
by gautam patel on Mar 23, 2009 10:45 AM  | Hide replies

It is a shame on our country that we incapable for holding the event here. Can we ever imagine to hold an Olympics then, when we are unable to conduct even a domestic tournament of IPL stature? If our systems are unable to cope up with such situations which have an advance schedule in place, how will we cope up in an emergency situation?

What is shameful in it man? Govt would have estimated the police forces required and then taken this decision. Anyways, what is more important for us - Providing security to Voters or to the Audience?
