UPA...NDA...anyone
by mulnivashi on Mar 23, 2009 09:23 AM  | Hide replies

There not point blaming this govt,I feel if it was any Govt in Power, same discuss would have been taken under the present circumstances.

Also, security for an free and fair election is important then a cricket event, which would happen every year. Congress had a guts to say "NO" to this event and they know aftermaths of not doing the event is going to cause them some votes in election.

It is not the guts of Congress party but tussle between NCP (Sharad Pawar) and Congress that has forced the IPL out of the Country.

Is it not that Terror has TRIUMPHED?
by Neo Intellectual on Mar 23, 2009 09:22 AM  | Hide replies

At the very outset, let me make it clear that I am not saying that IPL is more important than elections.

Now look at it from a different perspective. What is the objective of terrorists? What do they want? What is their end and what means do they adopt to achieve that end?

They have a perverted, (religiously) imperialistic ideology. This ideology has political objectives. To achieve this end, the means they adopt is to TERRORIZE people. They want a sense of pervasive fear. They want to be perceived as VERY POWERFUL so that their DEMANDS AND ALLEGATIONS ARE TAKEN SERIOUSLY.

Have they not succeeded in it without even blasting a bomb or firing a bullet? Is it not because of their FEAR that IPL is moving out of the country? Does it not clearly show that they ARE SO POWERFUL, that they can influence the life of Indians and India as a nation, just by their THREATS. Are the westerners not proven right for considering south asia as a monolithic block when it comes to terrorism?

Are we comfortable being bracketed along with Pakistan as an unsafe place?
May be we are unsafe! May be the government knows it! It's just us commoners living in denial that India is safer than Pakistan! HOW ELSE do we describe cricket matches shifted out of India over security fears? Who is to blame?
I think, the present dispensation in Delhi would have liked to shift Elections also out of India, if only it was possible!! Next what? We'll shift Parliament building to London? Back to square one?

What is the contribution of IPL to India?
by kehar singh on Mar 23, 2009 09:22 AM  | Hide replies

IPL is nothing more than a business. In IPL only greedy persons (including players) are involved. IPL does not have any contribution either in Indian cricket or India. Why Indian government should worry for IPL? Election is the priority, the Govt. decision is totally justified.

We should be mostly happy about this news
by Chor Marbo on Mar 23, 2009 09:21 AM  | Hide replies

IPL was destroying cricket, so from that point of view this is good news.

Also, IPL is supported by blood-sucking and drug-world related dukandars. Remember that Lalit Modi is a convicted felon on drug charges in his days in the US in the 80s.

From India's point of view, it is a temporary embarrassment regarding not being able ti provide security. But that is a minor thing which India will overcome and march ahead.

At least the good thing is that Cricket has been saved

as your name signifies you seem to be part of ch-or mandali of Modi(of Gujarat) and Modi(of IPL) whose only intention is to make millions so that they can rig elections in Gujarat and Rajasthan Cricket Board.

Are you mad? IPL is led by Sharad Pawar of NCP, as he also heads BCCI, wand NCP is an ally of the Congress government. So the evil Congress will do anything to keep Sharad Pawar in good humour and keep black money flowing into his already overstuffed Swiss bank account. This fiasco only proves how inept the Congress is in handling the matters of the country. Vote out the Congress if you want India to suvive. Such a huge country, and the governemtn pleads that it cannot provide security to the IPL during elections!!!! Why do the useless corrupt Central Government ministers need security? These security men should be tasked with providing security to the IPL. We do not want the corrupt and inept Congressis to waste taxpayers money on their own security.

IPL is not such a great event. Its in interest of few Biggies.

If given money they will do IPL in Pak also. As KP and Kallis are going to lead RCB not Dravid or Kumble.

They mean bussiness and only bussiness nothing else.

In my opinion Govt must have some info about terrorists plan during IPL and Election. What will be our position if something like that happens inside a stadium.
