Why Munaf patel is ignored on foreign soil
by Jatin Desai on Mar 21, 2009 03:46 PM  | Hide replies

Munaf patel did well in this test Last year for Australia tour , Vegsarkar was stupid to drop him because of possible injury scare.

In first test in Melbourn Kumble played both him & Harbhajan beacause of lack of confideance in Isahnt...Lost test in 4 days. Zaheer got injured & ishant got chance in Sydney. Then in Perth test Pathan was played... he was man of the match in Perth test.

Had munaf been there , we could put good show in that australian series. 2-1 was still a loss... & kumble was satisfied with it!!!

dude Munaf bowls atleast 50% of his deliveries in late 120's or early 130's. Thats too slow for a fast bowler. That is the speed at which normally all rounders bowl at. Don't judge by 1 match, what has his record been otherwise 32 something in Tests and 31 something in ODI's ? Thats not a good record at all. In fact thats very Average. Compare his record with that off Say Kallis who is averaging at 31 in both ODI and Tests while being a support seamer.

well done india
by Dev on Mar 21, 2009 03:36 PM  | Hide replies

one win abroad is equal to 3 wins in india.india is better team this time and should win series.
i am even happy they sent Dravid to finish off ..and kept Sehwag in..these are all good moves.
but keep up search for more bowlers..india needs pool of minimum 15 bowlers

Not India, its Team India of BCCI. BCCI is a private sport body and Team India is a private team.

Man of the match
by Anirudh on Mar 21, 2009 03:22 PM  | Hide replies

Sachin no doubt contributed towards the outcome. But somehow I feel that everytime sachin performs, even if somebody else performs better, the other person is overlooked and Sachin definitely gets the man of the match. 6 wickets out of 10 is more important for me than 160 out of a total of 520. I understand that 160 means a lot more since he was able to create the partnerships, still...Harbhajan might still...Cheers anyway...after all India won a test match there after 33 years.

The match was set up by Sachin's hundred, which allowed Bhajji to apply pressure on the Kiwis as he had a big total to bowl against. I Bhajji had taken 6 in the first innings when they had to dismiss NZ quickly, then maybe Bhajji should have gotten MOM.

i dont agree. The course of the match was more or less over with Sachin s knock. the Kiwis woul dhave lost Bhajji or no Bhajii in the second innings. only margin could have been different. So sachin is the man of the match.

Course was set in the first session of the test match. Teams normally can't recover for 60 for 6 on a good batting track. Point is had bhajji taken 1 for 60 instead of 6 for 60, who can say, it might well have been a drawn match. BTW, I am not undermining sachin's performance.

When Sachin was playing the ball was not coming on to bat and there was quite uneven bounce. The way he played in the later part was crucial.
The MOM was given by a person who is not from Mumbai or relative of Sachin. Hence we need to accept that atleast there was no such bias :)
