regarding fast bowler
by orkay on Mar 21, 2009 07:33 PM  | Hide replies

Dear members....we have good allrounder like Irfan Pathan....why we can't give him chance to play in the elleven instead Munaf - Though he is a good bowler, but not a good batsman/fielder. I think it is injustice to him........(orkay)

Fakruddin Saheb .....

Stop this ridiculous agenda of yours. We are just as much proud of Zaheer as we are of Sachin. We all hope that Munaf turns into a good bowler so that it'll benefit India in the long run. Heck we'd prefer playing with 11 minority players if they are the best India can offer.

But this signaling out minority players and lavishing at them, is actually equivalent to insulting them. It makes them look like inferior. Please, stop this agenda.

How did the minority issue come up. Moreover, Munaf also is from the same community as Zaheer.

munaf is the best option available iffff.........

if munaf can be 100%match fit for more time, he can be long term third seamer ,he has the accuracy which he can persist with for longer period of times
but on the contraray he always has a nack of leting down selection commitie by hididng his inguries,or may be gets ingured more often

LOL are you serious ? Zaheer and best Indian bowler EVER ? what a joke !!!
Did you even see his Average ?

In case this doesn't ring a bell --- KAPIL DEV " simply the best fast bowler we have had to date"

It has been 14 years since he retired, we still do not have a fast bowler of his class.

On Long-term, Munaf as third seamer is bad development for India
by f f on Mar 21, 2009 05:13 PM  | Hide replies

I think this performance will help him continue for rest of the series and also perhaps for coming tournaments.

India should rethink of Shreeshanth and RP Singh in addition to grooming aggressive youngsters like Dinda, Gony (at least in ODIs)

You idiot I'm not bothered about majority or minority. Zaheer is the only minority (in your language) who deserves a place in Indian Test Squad. Period. Think India you fool.

sree santh and rp are injured. Rp is just recovering > any way he did not set the tames on fire when given an oporunity. selcetion must be performance basd. munaf has done well in this match. only thing he has to become consistent and improve his firleding and batting which is atrocious for international standards

You are dead right! Munaf does have some natural talent to be accurate. But I feel he doesn't apply much, very careless guy. That's the reason he couldn't do anything in batting and fielding. He has taken his place for granted, that's my worry!

Munaf got 5 wikets in the match, more than Zaheer or Ishanth. So what you said smacks of personal opinion based on factors other than cricket. Also Munaf was underbowled in the match. The only problem Munaf has is that he is injury prone. RP Singh is not bowling well and Sreesanth behaves like a monkey everytime he is selected. Besides Sreesanth is a distraction to all other players in the team. This team also includes Balaji and Dhawal Kulkarni. Your comments are foolish.

Yes, the owl and monkey were instrumental in winning world cup for us! Shreeshanth is not distraction but he is a popular one among Indian team. If you go by these terms, Harbhajan should be first removed from the team! Conduct is no more the factor in any field today!

Besides Sreesanth is suffering from back injury and is out of bowling business for 3 months. He is however available for other activities for which he is more famous.

He is a one match wonder. Remember, this hobbling Munaf single handedly lost India the series decider in Cape Town when Dravid insisted on his inclusion....

Re: munaf half hatrick and zaheer 50 turning point for match
by f f on Mar 21, 2009 05:04 PM
What do you mean by Half-Hatrick? I would have been happy if some other bowler was given chance in place of Munaf even though Munaf turned out OK. In long-term, India should try to groom more & more quality seamers to remain successful abroad.

Either a hatrick or a no hatrick. That's all it is. No half hatrick, one-third hatrick. You split evertything.
