Wrong message from Indian Government
by krispy009 on Mar 24, 2009 11:08 PM  | Hide replies

No doubt IPL is not a national pride.
Being one the largest military nation in the world government shouldn't have refused to provide a security for a domestic tournament.
Government refusal has given terrorist a moral boost and sending wrong signals to other nations exposing our nation's incapability to tackle several issues at a time.

PLS DNT ASSOCIATE NATIONAL PRIDE WTH IPL..ITS AN INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT WTH MANY INTERNATIONAL PLAYERS,AND A COMBO OF BILLION DOLLARS/BEERS/BABES/AND LOADS OF GLAM SHOWS,HOW CAN WE ASSOCIATE INDIA WTH THOSE SEMI-NUDE DANCERS WHO KICK ASS ON EVERY 4s AND 6s DOES THAT SHOWCASE OUR INDIAN CULTURE? IS IT A PRIDE TO INVEST BILLIONS OF RUPEE WHEN MAJORITY OF COUNTRIES ARE ALMOST WASHED OFF DUE TO RECESSION?IF AT ALL LALIT THE LAME NATIONALIST HAS ANY INDIAN VALUES HE COULD HAVE POSTPONED THE IPL AFTER ELECTIONS, LOK SABHA ELECTIONS ARE A V.SERIOUS AND MAKE OR BREAK ELECTIONS AND THIS 1 IS SPECIAL AND IF TODAYS YOUTHS GET ENGAGED IN WATCHING LATE NIGHT MATCHES HOW WILL THEY COME OUT OF THEIR COMFORT ZONE AND VOTE FOR THE RIGHT CANDIDATE? MORE SO WHO ALWEZ EXPECT GOVT TO SECURE US WHY CAN'T WE TAKE SOME CITIZEN INITIATIVES AND PROTECT OUR CONSTITUENCY AND NOT LET ANTI-ELEMENTS MASHROOM?AT THE MOMENT GOVT IS RIGHT AND MODI IS WRONG..BE IT LALIT OR NARENDRA. BOTH R LOOSERS..

India cannot hold IPL, not sure if other countries deny for 2010 Games. They have excuse, you cannot provide protection!

Indian sponsors, BCCI, celebrities will PAY for this event in SA
by Ram V on Mar 24, 2009 10:42 PM  | Hide replies

Nobody cares if IPL goes to South Africa, but would the South African really be interested to watch this sport like India because it is just a league where different players are playing.

Indian sponsors like TV ads, BCCI, and celebrities, they will be supporting this event even though this event is played out of India.

Perfect point put forward by Mr. Raman
by krishna ganesan on Mar 24, 2009 10:34 PM

I must congratulate Mr. Raman to have put forth most sensible thing before readers. IPL wants to preserve tournament for vested interest or not, fact remains that IPL is for Indian Fans. And they are primarily Indians. They have to worry more about India than mere game of cricket. It either shameful to IPL bosses or the fans who are feeling let down. How much more money they will amass and how much more cricket fans need cricket.

national pride or money
by S P on Mar 24, 2009 10:26 PM

Our definitions of for many things has changed since independence, thanks to our political leadership for this, specially congress party. Here money is national pride or cricket or secuirty of country or loksabha elections. BCCI goons should understand importance of elections. For India priority is elections not cricket. so let them go anywhere they want to go. Govt should lay off BCCI and form a new body to control cricket in India. ther should be multiple leagues, give importance to domestic cricket so that we can have domestic heroes, better cricket.

Disgraceful!!!
by Partha Das on Mar 24, 2009 10:20 PM

Its a national shame when the media in the west reports that th INDIAN premier league will not be played in India due to SECURITY fears (and not due to the elections clashing with IPL dates). One cannot imagine the English Football League being played in Japan- but then these money mongering worms who run these shows and the great Indian public who support them will probably never bothered about national pride!!! Utterly shameful.
