munaf plz dont play for the national team again.
by nitin PAPPA on Mar 09, 2009 04:23 AM  | Hide replies

yes we won.are we goin to be the best in the world NO. cz of players like munaf, irfan and indian fielding.india could have won that a lot better than the way they did.the best luk for india when the umpire stoped munaf from bowling..he has no PACE,NO SWING,no LINE OR LENGHT and he is a crappy fielder.just like irfan they need to go bak to domestic cricket and learn how to bowl.bring bak sreesant he may go crazy at times, but he has PAce and swing wich are important in these conditions.india is only good with ishant, zaheer they dont have a 3rd seamer hu can bak them up yet.munaf shows no commitment, he was laughing every bowl he gt hit a six for, becz of him we almost LOST.but atleast da batting was osome.plz gt a beta 3rd seamer.n praveen still gt good enough, is he any good if the pitches arent bowler friendly??

its da attitute lyk urz tat india has never been numbr 1..if u want 2 b da best team in da world u need to be good in all da departmnt nt just batting.tiz is da closest india has ever been to number 1.why spoil it bcz we giv chances to bowlers who cant bowl, and give chances to peps hu can acually bowl.

India did well ONLY in batting
by Honest on Mar 09, 2009 01:52 AM

While we congratulate the batting performance, we cannot ignore the bowling shortcomings. The way NZ piled up runs before they lost the first wicket shows the poverty of India's bowling department. A week ago, we were wondering if we were good in bowling or batting? Do we have the right pick of bowlers?

congrats dhoni's men!!!
by Raktabh Srivastava on Mar 09, 2009 01:36 AM

Great win it was to end the fear of Khaufland of India's nemesis overseas viz. New Zealand so far. Dhoni's men with Sachin, Yuvraj, Raina, Viru, Bhajji, Zak, captain himself, and obviously the unassuming reticent coach Gary among others have made it possible so far to have at least drawn the ODI series against the Kiwis so far after nearly four decades. It can be a 3-1 sseries win or 4-0 washout in favor of India. Great show today at Christchurch esp by dint of quickfire runs by Sachin(163 retd. hurt), Yuvi(87), Dhoni(68), and Raina(38 no)to post a record mammoth total of 392 in 50 overs(the highest ever on this ground so far) and by winning the match by 58 runs. Tis an amazing batting line-up; perhaps the best ever by Sachin's own account. Raina is amazingly gifted and possibly will best inherit the leagacy of Sachin and better further it. If the bowlers pulled up their socks, India is all set to become the numero uno of cricket with each individual now capable of being a match-winner. Initial skeptism against Youngistan and Dhoni notwithstanding, the devil should finally get its due.:)Hats off to Dhoni and his genuinely 'The Team'!!! They deserve the best.

You guys are just are jealous of Sachin.. If this was Jayasuria's score, you would be writing poetry for him..
Plz check whats the next highest score, OR what all other "recognized batsmen" scored.

Look at Sachin's scoring rate.

Thats you people.. LOSERS!!!!!!

Yep.. Finally.
After playing T20 like it was a test match, Dhoni gathered some steam.
I hope its the start of a recovery. Else he can always claim captaincy is taking a toll on him.

392 wasnt enough....
by siddharth jain on Mar 09, 2009 12:29 AM  | Hide replies

even though India made 392 and there was fanfare, it wasnt a very good score. the way Indians started was slow... NZ were far far better... and dont you think that playing on these grounds which are almost half the size of grounds for international matches in other countries....just a little flick and six...
Media is like
31 sixes record.. India create history in Christchurch... reach their highest.. though records are records
and whats so much to boast about 163*.. even Kyle mills scored briskly and at one stage it looked he's going to win the match for them because matches in NZ are producing these scores for long now... the grounds are very small and with players like Gambhir/Sehwag/Yuvraj/take Pathan also if you want to... India should have posed 450 or so...

I am not criticizing Sachin or the Indians.. all i want to say is that it should be even for bowlers and batsmen... even though we like hitting and slogging but there should be fair conditions and real test should take place...its not a T-20
India won by 58 runs the margin should have been bigger...

All in all a victory taking the tally of Indian wins over NZ to 38 v 34 (or 35)... records on paper matter in the long run people forget the margins and conditions

hey SIDDHARTH , you do realise that the bowlers bowled awefully bad to the tailenders right ? and LOL at 450 score card -- the pitch was 2 paced for better part of the 1st innings.
And double lol at 392 not being considered a great score... the batsmen did their job. If the fielders drop catches and Bowlers bowl bad -- even a score of 500 would be insufficient

and this
by sri on Mar 08, 2009 10:48 PM  | Hide replies

And this with a weak team like NZ! While we won it should make Dhoni think about it a lot. The openers were unstoppable (Ryder and McCollum were unbeleivable and they easily especially Ryder surpassed Yuvraj who we make a big deal about) and if NZ had a few more better batsmen down the line, they could have won this. What this means is that while Indian batting is very good our bowlers are still not good enough to win a game for India even in such situations where India has a huge score.

Till date we dont have a series win in NZ. We have our own bowlers down. Ishant is not avaiable. Munaf is always half fit. The most important of all, It is NZ conditions which they are much adapted to. This works to their advantage. remember the earlier visit to NZ, Just before the World cup, our performance was just ordinary. I would think, this time the performance i much better. We lost in T20, very close in the secod one. you can attribute it to no match practice before the match. sachins score is really good especially at the twilight of his career, that too scoring at such a brisk pace. It is really heartening.

Well it is no doubt that out of one billion, we will have people like Sri who always want to look at milli inch of glass that was not full. When will appreciate? Besides you consider this NZ team a puny Bangladesh? They almost defeated Oz at their own backyard. Yuvraj was pathetic against spin and Moving ball. The fact that he mastered them to a decent extent is a fact in itself that he is a good player. Not long ago, India stopped Oz at their own backyard under 230 to win a CB Series final. These things you people never look.

:-) wow.... Can you identify the "moving ball" and the "spinner" for us please? Vettori was not playing this match to the best of our knowledge...
But since you know how to measure kilometers of grass, we will collectively bow before your intelligence....
Anyway, the world cup will prove something to you my dear friend.... before 2003 and 2007 cups too the tigers were roaring.... innit?... :)

Correction ---- on paper they might have drawn up with the aussies , but anyone and everyone who saw the final match knows that NEWZEALAND have beaten the aussies in their own backyard.

@SRi --- yeah our bowling dept was pretty weak against the tailenders. It was frustrating as to how the full time pacers were hit for 13 rpo by tailenders.
