Indian cricket fiasco
by TheWicked wizard on Jun 19, 2009 12:35 AM

Some more info :

Post IPL, the other teams have eebcome smarter check jacques Kallis, Bravo, Dilshan, etc..

IPL was a commercial event but the intelligent guys got whatever they wanted out of it.

Our cricketeers made so much of money that they are now busy "chewing the cud" like cows, instead of focussing on cricket.

it is shameful that these chaps cant play 3 hours of proper cricket on 3 days..

Over-rated sheep

Team India was nothing but a batch of over-rated sheep.. Thye can only say baa-baa and make tons of money by jiggling and wiggling in ads..
They won the last 20-20 tournament as most countries were yet to find their feet and Pakistan buckled under pressure in the final..

Look at what pak has achieved this time around, theough they were supposedly short of match practice.

I think the Indian cricket team should be dumped in the Indian Ocean....

Pathans

Yusuf made 65 runs of 42 balls at a strike rate of 155% that is over 9 runs per each over he faced. In a series where Team India managed only once to reach 8 RPO in a match, Yusuf's show must be considered outstanding. Rediff analysis is just rubbish!
Dhoni's reluctance to push Yusuf is the reason for this debacle. We should remember Pathan brothers have won matches from dead positions for India.
Unless Dhoni reforms and gives enough support to Pathan brothers, India will be doomed!
Irfan Pathan was dropped after a spell of 2-0-9-1. If this is not unfair, I would like to know what is. I think the media is hellbent upon sidelining Pathan Brothers just like Dhoni wants! But I can't understand the politics here. Why this dislike for these two explosive talents.

I would rate like this:

Gambhir: 5 / 10 [Failed to take up the lead role]
Rohit: 5 / 10 [Was exposed by short bowling]
Raina: 2 / 10 [Fielded well. Batting disaster, but anyone can go through a slump. He is a talented player]
Yuveraj: 7 / 10 [Dreasonably well, but his fitness levels are abysmal and he looks jaded]
Yusuf: 7 / 10 [Scored 65 runs of 42 balls in the limited opportunities. Bowled very little. Dhoni doesne him]
Irfan: he was earnestLast innings he got to bowl was 2-0-9-1. Dropped after that. Perhaps Dhoni knows better]
Bhajji: 4 / 10 [His 2 wides for 10 runs against England cost us the match. He never really was anywhere near to being a force]
Zaheer Khan: 3 / 10 [He was neither taking wickets nor containing. Except for Ireland, he was a liability, especially at death]
RP: 5 / 10 [Came in late, but was good in first match. Somehow Dhoni forgot him when it came to slog overs]
Ishant: 1 / 10 [He was the worst calamity of this series]
Ojha: 7 / 10 [Had one ordinary match and was dropped. He would have been a better bet than Bhajji]
Finall...
Dhoni: His first real failure as Captain. But must say he was too arrogant. His decision to stick on to Ishant in spite of total failure was baffling. Jadeja's promotion ahead of Yuvi, keeping Yusuf down, not bowling RP at death and using Bhajji and Zaheer instead [Both chronic slog over offenders] and never really bothering to turn the tide... All were blunders.
His keeping was a calamity and batting ... He has f

He has forgotten batting. He is batting slower than Dravid at his worst.
With a patently disasterous series, Rediff rates him at 5 / 10Absolute partisanship!
Dhoni forme was 2 / 10 on all counts.
This is not to discredit his achievements or those of anyonetherto. But only about this campaign which was a tragedy!

Dhoni, Rediff amd many morele have to realize the potential of guys like Pathan brothers in T-20. Not for nothing that Irfan is India's joint highest wicket taker in T-20 so far!

You are right about Dhoni and Pathans. They have a better record than him in IPL and 20/20. Being charitable to Dhoni, a smart captain will not pick someone smarter than himself. As long as the curd rice selectors think Mahi is divine, team India performance will mirror Dhoni's form.

Why Dhoni Played last match without any changes in the team?
by Jigar on Jun 18, 2009 11:48 PM

I didn't get it why dhoni played with the same team. Dhoni could try praveen and some other bench players in the last game.

I think Dhoni's arrogance that he wanted to win the last match with same combination.

How can a single player fix matches, If the matches are fixed then it has to be fixed by all 11 players coz even if a single player takes money the other players may spoil his plans........

Hero t20 depends on single man to win or loose...In all the 3 matches dhoni took an average of 20 balls and he made less than 20 runs, that to at middle order,,,And we know that no one in the 1st order listbatmans are match winneres ( apart from shewag/Sachin, they have not played)
