It is human tendency for someone to consider himself / herself better than others. Boycott did the same here. Nothing wrong, mates. Let him feel so. Anyway, comparing them now, doesn't make any difference. They are not going to hold the cricket bat any more. They will have the microphones only. So what difference in it now?

Both hav done nothing 4 their country,It was Sourav Ganguly & Kevin Peterson who has changed the whole scenario & standard of their respective country.

Gavaskar was just a captain,it was Ravi shashtri who won it 4 India.He also won Audi car 4 this.& u CC Gang i make gang like urs sit on my l**d & give them worldtour.

What do you mean just captain. He played 2 critical innings in that series. Despite being an opener he played down the order to give Srikkanth a chance. Most of the time the players whom he put up the order finished the job before he had a chance. And by the way it was a real team effort. Sure Shastri was outstanding, but Kapil chose the right moment to return to form, Binny and Madan Lal bowled well, Siva was brilliant, Srikkanth was in good form,Vengsarkar played well, so there you are. As for saying both were useless it is nonsense. Both were great players, but I would rate Gavaskar higher simply because he scored all those runs playing for India. Gavaskar himself once said, that he would have scored more runs if he had faced the Indian bowling. All he had to do was to see off Kapil Dev's first spell.

Look, only Boycott was a player who would put you to sleep. Gavaskar had all the shots, but controlled himself for the sake of the team. If Tendulkar is'nt exciting nobody is exciting. By the way all three are great players. Show some respect.
I bet ponting will beat Sachins Record. Ponting might not be a genius and class but man what a pocket fighter is he? He will end up with Max Centuries and as highest run getter. Only Shewag has a chance to overtake his runs if he keeps his form right for tests as he has got appetite for those big 300s.

Maybe you are right.But that doesn't make Sachin any less a player. Ponting was part of a very strong team; we need to watch him now that he is leading a not very strong team.

Even if he dont he will still be greater than Sachin,coz he has won 2 world cups 4 ozs whereas Sachin has boosted his average in all d world cup he has played rather than winning it 4 India.

your own statement clears the air, as It shows India as a team failed to play better in world cups, even though sachin topped batting charts we could not win, on the other hand ponting never topped charts neither did setve waugh but still ausies won so many times. It shows how important team performance is. Sachin never got suport from team in his early years, only after ganguly and dravid came there was some team play. He scored so many centuries and all of them have been also for indian score card but others simply failed to add on to it. India on many occassions has won because of sachin and on various occasions lost less badly because of him. If he was not there we would have made records of loosing most matches and posting most low scores. Remember matches like eg ( 1996 world cup Vs australia, Sachin scored half centruy and till then we looked like winning, he was out on a wide and we could not make runs required. Same world cup against Srilanka in semis, Sachin played as if everything was ok with the pitch, he got out on the team score of 98 and then we lost 6 wickets for 19 runs. Whom can we blame?? Sachin or the team India?? Test against pakistan in 1999, We needed 17 runs and Sachin got out, 4 wickets remaining and we lost all of them withing 8 runs.. Now dont blame sachin for getting out because its a game and u are bound to get out at some point of time. But what abt others???? there so many such incidents where he has scored nearly 50% of the teams total runs..
