Ranatunga, the comment is so late and so it is not special. U r respected by the Indian cricket lovers and please do not tempt to review that. I think u r falling in the same track of Gavaskar.

Agreed, Arjuna Ranatunga was a great captain and cricketer, but he's talking like he doesn't want to embrace the change. A guy still hanging on to his own memories. Times have changed, wakeup Arjuna. Though not having knowldge about what kind of person Modi is, but thanks to his introduction of IPL in India. He at last made cricket an entertainment game. Though yes there are always pros and cons of any action or decision.

i strongly support arjuna, even though it is late, better late than never. who is this lalit modi? just a business man, who made cricket as the money tree. can anyone say, figure out no of players came to lime light ( youngsters) thru this IPL???? moreover, then what for the retired people are playing???? all are for mere money involvement. India lost last Twenty 20 world cup only b'coz of this IPL in south africa. all players got tired by continuous and restless tour( not for india , mere money). how this IPL differ from ranji trophy , etc??? difference is colour, cheer girls, actress ??? what logic is this actors and actress bought one team.. shame shame.... it completely spoil the sports.... thru this IPL most of the foreign players have got exposure of indian pitches and how to play spin bowling of indians, which they have not get in the previous days?? i think that's why we lost home series against australia last time..
come on indians... wake up.... it is the good wake up call ...come on..
one final question , can anyone take action, if they involve in betting????? answer is no ... do you know ????? so, why i cant say they have played a well written script by lalit modi or priety zinta, shah rukh?????

shame on Ranatunga, what he meant is that the NBA is bad for basketball in the usa, is it so? professionalism in cricket is always welcome, provided one dosent get carried away.IPL gave us some very fabulous talents, the likes of Manish pandey and ashok dhinda, and many more from other countries, like shaun marsh, and watson. If we can not stop betting in cricket, that does not mean we shall not organise cricket, this is similar to blaming water as a whole if a river is found polluted.the fault lies in us, the system, not the game or organizing it.Mr Ranatunga, you ensured grabbing the headlines world over by blaming Indian Cricket administration, and, you may soon get some favour from the ICC.

Solomon, we got lot lot better talent without IPL. NBA is a different game. Ur argument are far from being convincing.

IPL is International Prostitution League
by Dollar Anand on Dec 17, 2009 07:01 PM  | Hide replies

Cricketers prostituted, passion for the game prostituted, India's name is sullied. IPL is a shame for India, for cricket and for the fans. A lot of people probably will not realize this soon enough. Ranatunga is courageous and correct in what he has said.

Modi is Greedy
by Mohandas Satyam on Dec 17, 2009 06:53 PM  | Hide replies

What an insufferable money-monger this guy is. When India politely refused to host IPL for a valid reason such as National Elections, this egotist shifted the venue to SA, made the Indian players suffer thru one month of hectic travel and non-stop games, got them completely enervated mentally and physically resulting in a totally lack-lustre performance in T20 Worldcup. No sane person can deny these facts. This kind of guys will commercialize cricket to such an extent that all nice things of the game will surely vanish and we will end up with aggressive, self-serving, and commercially motivated behaviour and attitude among all players. He should be sacked and sent to obscurity. India should revert to playing cricket with passion, pride and patriotism like earlier days while retaining sportsmanship, genteel behaviour and courtesy towards other playing teams.

What about Sharad Pawar, Rajeev Shukla, Ratnakr Shetty etc ? Also Officials of other cricket playing nation's Boards ?

If only Modi is greedy and others are real well wishers oif game, they should ban IPL and make life tough for him the way they killed ICL.

The fact is that all are enjoying the cream generated by Modi brainwave while the blame of 'commercialising' the game is solely at his door step.

A learning lad should not be blamed cos responsibility is not only on him but also on the others who went on leave with some good reason.
