Ranatunga Not Perfectly Right
by kunal shah on Dec 17, 2009 08:48 PM

Ya Its true that T20 is based on a particular player's day. i.e How a particular player is playing on that particular day.
But the thing is in today's fast moving world no one has time to watch the whole 5 day Test Match.
And T20 is very exciting since the game ends early and see the shorts which players try to hit on every ball.
So No need to blame modi.

perfectly right Mr Ranatunga.. you have hit the nail on the head.. T 20 is some soap opera.. it was not is not and will never be cricket...there will soon evolve a time, when serious cricketers take tests and may be one dayers seriously and the T 20 will be left to be different spectacle...

Ranatunga's views
by W Farnando on Dec 17, 2009 08:03 PM  | Hide replies

Mr. Ranatunga talks like a old grammy predicting disaster. He must understand that the world is changing and everything now is fast and swift.People now want instant excitment and instant results. No one wants to wait for 5 days just to know what the result is going to be in a test match.T20 has changed the form of the game and people want it that way. There is money and the people are prepared to pay for it.There will be opportunists who will exploit the situation. But it should be the honest cricketers who should maintain the dignity and be beyond corruption and not give away the match because some unscrupulous punter wants a certain team to win.So coming to the point I am not able to understand how because of Lalit Modi India lost the T20 match. The indian team lost it and Lalit did not play in the team.So how can one blame Lali8t Modi.Regarding security, any country which has its own basic pride and respect will provide the best security. If Pakistan cannot provide the required security it is because it is a damned country going back to old medieval days.It is a normal courtesy that any guest is well treated but Pakistan believes differently that is "Shot the guest" even if they are Cricketers.Forget Pakistan it will take a decade for Pakistan to regain its lost glory.Till them let the peace loving countries play this game.Lalit Modi did a great job for cricket by bringing it to the centre stage.

BSB better watch out or some of your comments may start making folks see you from the spectrum of known India baiters such as Miandad and Ranatunga.

But as of right now, I still think that BSB is just grumpy because he thinks that "lesser" players are making way more money than he could even imagine, other than that BSB probably is an India supporter just like Wadekar and other Indians of that age who support India after bowing down to the correctness and greatness of the gora "sahab".

Oh yeah, Ranatunga, get a life and Miandad man I'm waiting for the day when your samdhi serves you some supari.

IPL is not only a threat to traditional cricket, but is also causing both player fatigue and spectator fatigue. Ian Botham said "Bastardising the game", Flintoff and others are not interested.....

Initially we had theru kutthu, then dramas, then cinemas then came TV. Likewise t20 is an evolution. no one can stop it.

you know, players have no strict guidelines, as they have in international matches, they can drink and play...?? will it give respect to the gentleman's game??
What a shame for the International players, they have been auctioned themself??? oh god!!! shame shame!!! are they horses to bet????
they too have no shame.... all b'coz of money...
recently, murali vijay got into the team, did he played for any team in IPL?? then how he got place in indian team??? so, only IPL is the gate for indian team is logicless one...

in IPL, tamilnadu player is played for delhi, and vice versa, so, then what makes him to play well.
can anyone knows the background of lalit modi??
how many cases against him has registered in india???
BCCI also support and allocate dates for this.... oh god terrible...
already players have made enough money thru ads. but even then, they came here only b'coz of the compulsion by multinational companies...
can anyone say, how much they(lalit modi) earned thru IPL? have they paid tax? what contribution they have made for indian cricket( i'm not saying for the indian International team players, i am asking about the very rural like madurai, Kozhikode, timkur, meerut, pattiala, chittoor, pathankot, players????)
are they ready to conduct at least next level players finding matches at the above cities???
they won't do babaa...... behind the scene is of course multinational companies need to advertise their products......
what you are going to indians?

just 3 or 4 years back, our players and of course all international players said that they played too much of cricket and bcci and their country are not allow to take proper rest???? then how they could find time to play this IPL by modi??? think india Think..
cheer girls... shame for the country like india & its culture.. even in foreign, they didn't try this.. only IPL made this as a new tradition.. in SA, atleast there were some men... way to show their country dance.... but in india, we bring girls from all over the world to show their body.... oh god... what a shame.... india !!!!! if mahatma, & Nethaji are here now, he will definitely commit suicide....
are they struggle for freedom to show this kind????

A player is professional playing for money and is getting his dues in T20. He is also giving a world class entertainment in the process....purist can take a walk..this world is and has always been run by greed! Like Gekko says GREED is GOOD!

Come on indians!!! Wake up !!!!!
by vp prabu on Dec 17, 2009 07:41 PM

i strongly support arjuna, even though it is late, better late than never. who is this lalit modi? just a business man, who made cricket as the money tree. can anyone say, figure out no of players came to lime light ( youngsters) thru this IPL???? moreover, then what for the retired people are playing???? all are for mere money involvement. India lost last Twenty 20 world cup only b'coz of this IPL in south africa. all players got tired by continuous and restless tour( not for india , mere money). how this IPL differ from ranji trophy , etc??? difference is colour, cheer girls, actress ??? what logic is this actors and actress bought one team.. shame shame.... it completely spoil the sports.... thru this IPL most of the foreign players have got exposure of indian pitches and how to play spin bowling of indians, which they have not get in the previous days?? i think that's why we lost home series against australia last time..
come on indians... wake up.... it is the good wake up call ...come on..
one final question , can anyone take action, if they involve in betting????? answer is no ... do you know ????? so, why i cant say they have played a well written script by lalit modi or priety zinta, shah rukh?????

THE BALANCED VIEW
by vidyasagar ayyappan on Dec 17, 2009 07:31 PM  | Hide replies

Ranatunga is partially right -
1. Both T-20 winning teams had rest and not t-20 experience before world cup.

2. India lost because our batting mainstay (Yuvi&Viru) were absent and bowling w/o zaheer was weak....

3. BCCI and Lalit Modi are only interested in money is clear since ages (even before IPL) else they would have focussed on Indian stadium conditions, pitches, introduction of UDRS, Ranji quality and no of Test matches

However
4. What does Ranatunga have to say about EPL, Champions League, etc. Money has always set directions in all walks of life, not just sports

5. Ranatunga is obviously jealous hence he would not have used his playing days as example.....how can he prove that players playing for country are not serious.....

Real culprit is BCCI, not Modi..Modi is only a successful opportunist.....BCCI should simply learn lessons from Cricket Australia and improve quality of Ranji cricket, pitch conditions, identify and train bowlers, improve ground conditions (to good develop fielders), embrace technology and invest in improved stadium conditions...BCCI chor hai

Re: THE BALANCED VIEW

Cricket has the best chance to be a truly global sport because it is most advertisement friendly (alteast one break after every over) and the only time viewers watch ads without switching channels....

T-20 with its brevity, hype, hoopla and the big bucks involved has the ability to globalize cricket.... but when it becomes a bowler's death sentence...then matches become boringly high scoring...

The real culprit is not T-20 on the whole...

It is in the inability of the bowlers to adapt vis-a-vis batsmen..

1. Why cant every bowler bowl more yorkers (it is pitch proof)....

2. why cant every bowler swing and seam prodigiously like wasim and mcgrath did
3. why cant we invest in nullifying dew

4. why cant our fielders raise the bar to support bowlers??

5. why cant UDRS like technology be implemented full throttle so that even bowlers are rewarded???

Attract non cricketing nations through T-20, once they are in...they will train themselves for 50-50 and Tests and then cricket will become a truly global sport...the advertising friendly nature of this sport is unshakable.....

THINK ABOUT IT
