Next decade belongs to India
by M Alem on Dec 09, 2009 10:07 PM

India is the top cricket playing nation, period. With young players like Gambhir, Dhoni, Yuvraj India's future is secured for the next decade. India will be the top team like Australia was during last 10 or 15 years.

Only problem is why do we care to play a weak team like Bangladesh. We will score 1000 plus runs in each innings and get them out for less than 100. I know we gave them test status but we do not owe them any favor.

why not try and be number 1 in creative spheres instead of meaningless games where only a handful gain at the cost of the many

True.

And what about the National Game Hockey that once brought 8 Olympic Golds and One World Cup.

Frankly speaking, India is No. 1 today in a private game run by Indian corporates/consumer companies to serve their own interests.

Otherwise, its all Shame! Shame! Shame for India, a country of 1.18b people, as far as sports is concerned.

India's test cricket future...
by Saadaplate on Dec 08, 2009 07:34 AM  | Hide replies

I think India should retire from test cricket now... they have reached the pinacle and it will only be a downfall from here. So best is retire.

They are already retired. Their No. 1 position will be short lived and they will be thrown down in the New Year. :-))

Winning or buying wins my friend? In cricket its all money, money, money,.... the deals are made behind the curtains and matches are scripted well in advance. Rest all is the movie that you see on the field and enjoy.

How much was Sri Lanka paid to give away the test?? Some birdie told me it was close to 400 Cr. Good Marketing ploy by BCCI to draw the gullible fans back to tests.

Of course, over 80% of money of International cricket comes from India. Look at how the companies show their endorsing players after they make a century. A team playing against India knows very well that by losing a match/series by underperforming will fetch them 10 times more money than winning it.

A winning Indian team cater very well to the intererst of the frauud comsumer companies selling their junk products to Indians. So, they can pour any amount to serve their interests.
