Congrats to Team India. Jai Ho, Jai Hind
by Sundaresan Subramaniam on Dec 06, 2009 10:14 PM

Congrats to Team India on reaching the pinnacle of test cricket.

Been a passionate cricket fan from Gavaskar/Kapil days wanting to see India reach the pinnacle like WI of 70's-80's and Aussies of 90-00's. It is proud moment for all cricket fans from all parts of India who deserve and finally know "Yes We can do it".

Wishing Team India more success and consistency have to consolidate this position with consistency to become team who will be unbeatable like Clive Lloyd WI or Waugh/Ponting Aussies

Jai Ho, Jai Hind.

Dont forget Kumble & Ganguly
by Hari Menon on Dec 06, 2009 10:13 PM  | Hide replies

Lets not forget the contributions of mighty Kumble & the best captain of India Saurav Dada without whom this No 1 would have never been posible... Also all fuss about Sehwag is okay, but what about Dravid?? He is also scored 400 plus runs in this series!

C'mon, man. Lets be honest here. The reason we won the last test was because of the whirlwind batting of this selfless PHENOMENON called Sehwag. By the time hurrican Sehwag was done with the Sri Lankan team, they could barely stand straight.

YOu need someone like Sehwag to simply knock all planning of the opposition team out of the ground. The pace with which this man plays, and the brilliance with which he improvises (jumping on to the leg side and hammering deliberately bowled wayward balls for SIXes) shatteres the morale of the opposition players. Such a cricketer comes once in several generations (Viv Richards is the only one who comes close in terms of consistency and sheer disregard for records or bowlers). Dravid himself has commented (after sehwag's previous triple century) that if he (Dravid) has to score a triple century he would have to bat for 5 days!! This run machine called Sehwag is in a league of his own. I rate him well above Tendulkar (of today).

Sehwag would hit a SIX if he is on 299 and the ball is to be hit! He would go for a SIX even if he is on 499 and the ball is a lose ball. HE WILL NOT THINK ABOUT TAKING AN EASY SINGLE OF THAT EASY BALL AND COMPLETE HIS RECORD!!!

Tigers on home pitch.India has played 32 matches as against 30 played by SA.WE are just 2 points ahead of SA.If SA plays 32 matches, then what will happen to Indias position.I think SA is still the best team and deserve No.1

Guys like you dont know how to be positive in life.If SA plays 2 more matches they might lose and even slip to 3rd position. So always look at what we are now and what we can do in future

Congrats with a bit of caution!
by Govind Raj on Dec 06, 2009 10:07 PM  | Hide replies

As much as I enjoy congratulating Team India on this victory, I am not fully convinced they are the best team in the world. Reasons:

1] Never won a Series in Australia.
2] Never won a Series in South Africa.
3] Won a series in Sri Lanka in 1994 [Last time]
4] Couldn't beat a depleted South Africa on our own soil convincingly.
4] The so called famed batting starts to look pedestrian the moment Sehwag / Gambhir are gone. [I respect SRT, RD and VVS - but this is a truth]
5] Bhajji is not a patch on Kumble and can't win outside India.
5] When Zaheer is on song, all's well. But when he can't fire... 750 / 7 [May sound Cruel but true]

So let's be guarded. India are technically No. 1, But I believe South Africa are a better Test Team at present.

Sorry to say this my dear. But as an Indian you should support Indian Cricket team for achieving this. Don't give too much to Australia. Have you seen the Sydney Test last time. If the umpiring was good at that time India easily picked that series. See always a positive from an outcome. Otherwise you can not come up in life

I love this Team and I am as much a supporter as you are. But, I am more practical. I will be satisfied only when India WIN series in Australia and South Africa.

Obviously... They have won in Pakistan, England, New Zealand and West Indies in the apst 5 years.

India took less than 6 years to record their last 25 test wins. They were cheated at Sydney. They have played wonderful Test Cricket over the past 6 years. But we can't overlook the lacunae.

Whereas Australia have won in every continent, country and conditions. South Africa have done what no other team has done since 1992 - win a Test series in Australia.

I am just waiting for India to fill these lacunae.

Regards
GR

Re: 3 muslims did the job.
by Shishir Shastry on Dec 06, 2009 10:18 PM
Well, in Pak team, only muslims play.... so don't expect hindus to help Pak win....

Besides, wat r u trying to prove? Aa player is great by his talent, ability & hard work... not just by cutting the tip of his d**ick.

So, dont bring religion here.. please go to ur madrasa for higher education instead of wasting time here.

If Ajit Agarkar were to convert to islam, will he become Akram? NO... he will simply loose the tip of his vital pr1vate part...

What about your brothers who are busy creating chaos on 9/11, Mumbai, Madrid, London, and pretty much all over the globe?

Didnt see you commenting anywhere about those other brothers of yours, who singularly dominate your other sport as well!
