Sachin helped India reach the semifinals of 1996 World cup singlehandedly...

Sachin helped India reach the final of 2003 WC singlehandedly..

Sachin helped India win Sharjah cup in 1998 singlehandedly..

Sachin helped India win the CB series in Australia in 2008 singlehandedly...

And let us not even talk about his exploits in test matches cos they are too numerous to be mentioned....

Unfortunately, myopic people like you wear blinkers and don't see the reality, that he is the greatest batsman in post war era!!

winning WC or a series is a team effort. Nobody can do anything single handedly. We know what is the current situation of Australia. why can't ponting win against Englan single hadedly, why can't 20-20 WC single handedly.
But if you people want to comapre Sachin & Poting then come in terms of records, averages & mind it Ponting never played Mcgrath or Warne.

If that comparison u do even aussies will keep ahead Sachin.

We Indians neve ever praised our Great, untill he or she dies. So thats not a new thing...

First learn how to write career not carrier. Check the meaning of both.

Anurag dude , see Ricky's performance from 2002 to 2007 almost all the series he has contributed in Aussies win , His contributions are so huge its difficult to put in numbers like Sachin whose contributions are few and far between

In 2007 WC Hayden was top run scorer. I am asking about single handedly win by Ponting.

In 1996 and 2003 Sachin was alone batsman who scored almost in every match.

ponting -

He is the greatest with the help of two umpires who never gave him out lBW.He is a classic case who covers his stumps and once he survives the early lbw appeals , the bowlers are frustrated and he goes ahead to make a century.he is a great player but his performance are against weak sides and better sitiuations .. check the atatistics

Joke. By the way, in the recent Ashes, all the dubious umpiring decisions went against Australia including a crucial one against Ponting.

Guest you must be kidding , no one can score 11000 with help of umpires , I rate Vinod Kambli as the best Indian batsman though

as statistics say he is, no doubt, he is the second best Australian batsman. But if look more into the achievements, I think he has a problem with fast bowlers' leg-cutters(also reverse swing) & huge off-spin.Apart from that he is a great batsman.

Greatness of Sachin

Can any one tell me how many world cups has Sachin played and what is India's record?Sachin has played sinced 1992; India has just appeared in one final in 2003. Ponting has led Australia to world cup triumphs and played under Waugh in 1999 final which Aussies won.

yea he led them because he had players who performed well at that level. its different to the other indian players playing alongside sachin. history tells how indian batsmen have in the past struggled to cope with bouncy wickets.

If I have McGrath and Warne, even I can win a lead a team to win the world cup. Look how the aussies are struggling in this year's ashes..

Remember that Aussies won the last world cup without Warne. The point is that the Aussies play as a unit. Individual performances will enter record books not win world cups.

Dinesh, we Indians always go by individual performances. Aussies, for instance in 1987 did not have any great player but Border was a great captain and each player gave his 100%. They won.
