Adam khor Gilchrist..........
by Sachin zindabad on Aug 04, 2009 10:29 AM  | Hide replies

Adam khor Gilchrist is best batsman for Australia since Don Bradman even in test matcxhes, Ricky Ponting is no match to him, Ricky Ponting may have more 100's but the fact remains that Adam khor Gilchrist made Australia win more test matches than this m0r0n, Adam khor Gilchrist innings of 122 in Mumbai when Australia were behind India was one of the best innings played by any batsman in India :-)

Adam Gilchrist scored it in 90 balls, India were crusing for a win as they had a good lead but Adam khor Gilchrist changed the entire complexion of the game and Australia gave a target of 350 runs to India which Indian team could not achive :-)

ponting led his pack of wild dogs to many a victory. aggressive tactics, sledging, abusing were the hallmark of the team that he led.

as a run machine he's done pretty well, but, he will never be remembered as a sporting person though.

That is not the issue....whether he will be remembered as a sporting person or no..

But he will always be remembered as the 2nd greatest batsman in the post war era after Sachin Tendulkar, that is more pertinent!!

Poting..a great batsman..what a Joke
by Shreeharsha Hegde on Aug 04, 2009 10:13 AM  | Hide replies

May be he great for Australia in Australia. he is very ordinary Batsman when it comes to Face genuine Spin bowling from Hrbhajan,Kumble, Saqlain & Murali. Ponting has been found to the bunny of these Asian Spin Wizards and not proved anything against these Spin...!!
Borders, Chappals, Bukhanans can claim whatever they want ..but Poting can not be compared to Gavaskar, Tendulakar, Lara, Miandad etc.

All that Border is saying is that Ponting is the greatest Australian batsman since Bradman...and he has been very careful in using the qualifier "Australia" cos he knows that Sachin is a far better batsman than Ponting...

One of the greatest virtues of great batsman is adabtability and Sachin has been abel to adapt to all conditions and all opponents...

Ponting, on the other hand, averages less than a disgraceful 20 in India and his record in Sri Lanka is also not that great...he is so vulnerable against spinners bowling well that he is right now making Graeme Swann look like anil Kumble....

Sachin has little or no shortcomings, is equally comfortable against pace and spin, has all strokes in the book, plays the short ball exceedingly well and has adaptability that makes him a winner in all conditions, including Australia, where he averages over 55........
Sachin is definitely one notch above Ponting.....

yes u are right...but rediff posted it here thinking that the usual sachin hate or ponting hate messages would flood this forum and give them hits...they think that the viewers of rediff are docile and unintelligent in not reading the fine print.

But we bloggers should put everything in black and white...let there be no confusion as to who is the greatest batsman in the post war era and that is our very own little maestro Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar..

He will end up being the highest scorer of runs and he will hold the the record for the highest number of centuries...Ponting's dream to catch with his centuries will only remain a pipedream for Aussies and low level call centre mentality Indians like Raj Arora and company....LOL!!

That they will do...after all, the number of hits has a direct relation with advertising rates......and sites like Rediff generate a bulk of their incomes thru classifieds and ad banners.........

Ponting is 'best since Bradman'
by Guest on Aug 04, 2009 10:00 AM  | Hide replies

Ponting is a great player no doubt and could be the greatest also next only to the great Don of Australia. Even though Sachin resembled Bradman in the stroke making, it was always the orginal and duplicate story. Just like sachin and sehwag.
Playing as a captain and leading the team from the front with good knocks is not possible for most captains, who buckle under pressure.

Remember ponting was slapped by a girl during a party hosted during Chennai test in 2001.He was also thrown out of the club for another misbehaviour with a girl in calcutta test.

Friends do not compare Sachin with Ponting only on Statistics. eventhen statistics will rate sachin the Best.

We should be proud that Our sachin is the Best Player in history of Cricket.

We do accept that ponting is a great Australian batsman. But Comparing him with SACHIN is unfair done to our Sachin.
Do not say that sachin do not posses leadership qualities. sachin was given the captain when indian team was in aweful state.that was the time when all dependent on sachin alone. The team relied only on him. and most importantly he had the eyes of bilion indians watching him play. i think no other player in the history of any Sport had this much pressure to handle all alone when the team was in desperate condition. But friends when you look into the matches when he led the team his individual performance was very good.only the team was not performing. Sachin as a leader can motivate& inspire, but it the team who has to put up the fight on the field.

Comparitively no one will accept ponting as a great leader bcoz he was leading a team which was at his best. Now when the team is not in good shape ponting struggles to be a great leader. his own performance is questioned.he does not have any pressure of his fellow countrymen. but still he fails.

Also one most important point to be considered is " A player
is not only considered great bcoz of his onfield display, but to a large extent off field behaviour makes him the greatest player.i think none of the aussie players posses these behavioural qualities in them.
Remember ponting was slapped by a girl during a party hosted during Chennai test in 2001.He was also thrown out of the club for another misbehaviour with a
