indian national awards come cheap. bharat ratnas, various shrees and shris and shhitts are given on political platforms. the highest of course goes to those who contribute to 'SICKULARISM.'
How many days our congres MP's were absent for the parliament sessions ? How many important programs congress ministers have cancelled ? they can shit anywhere but others cannot
Cricketers are worthless. Their value is only in the Indian market - where 1000s of unemployed, unambitious, lazy youth who have nothing to do the whole day - idle together and watch cricket. They call their actions khatti, gupshup, time pass, etc. And cricket is the perfect excuse for these b*ms.
Cricket is truly a lazy man's sport. The Britishers, who invented the game, were used to luxury and couldn't afford to tax themselves physically. After all, they were used to traveling in carriages.
In India physical sports will never be popular. Boxing, football, basketball, etc. will be given no mileage simply because these sports require hard work. Additionally, the unemployed youth will have nothing to do after a football match wraps up in 90 minutes. Instead, he can watch some cricket for 8 hours and tell himself that he was busy watching cricket so the day has been spent.
Look around you. Mostly the poor, lazy, incompetent people enjoy cricket. Panwallas, rickshaw pullers, low level govt. employees with their radios, unemployed youth, clueless teenagers who dream about becoming Dhoni, etc. It's a very specific population - one that is inherently lazy and unambitious.
This is also the reason Cricket is played in hardly a dozen countries. Except for a handful, most of the nations like Kenya, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan are ALL poor countries. Misery does love company.
But then again, this is India. We worship everything from cows to cow dung to cricketers.

you have a point agreed. But this is the same India which has given the Rishis, Upanishads, Vedas, Aryabhattas, Swami Vivekananda, Buddha, Sankara. Have we forgotten them ? Have we forgotten the values our scriptures taught ? Remember it is bcos of the values all religion are peacefully existing in this country. BJP is only trying to revive those values.
now there is no value of govt awards because private players are giving huge awards and money.Due to govt arrogancy and attude problem IPL organised outside india.Indian sports has got paradigm shift and has immense money to take care without the involvement of government. In this talent and materialistic era govt has to change the attitude and should behave friendly with players.

An award by govt is a matter of pride which can not be valued in monetory terms. If they are absent for some ad film shooting it is shameful. They should respect nation.Money is not the only important.

There are many awards that are conferred on individuals who are unable to receive these on the appointed day, and this also happens to the awards bestowed by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. I have never heard that an award can be withdrawn or stand withdrawn, unless, of course, the awardee declines to receive it. There are very rare cases, like treason, felony, when an award is withdrawn.

yaar this thy are forcing the recipients to be present which shudnt be the case...
the ministry stressing so much about the presence itself pulls down the standard and dignity of award.
It is also a fact that Prez Patil is not respected by many individuals unlike other prez which is also a reason for absence
