Ganguly deserves respect for the services he has given to the Indian cricket. He is the first captain who chose players on their merit and not their regional addresses. He knit a winning combination and brought the “killer instinct” to cricket in India. Indian cricket is not just one hero Sachin Tendulkar who has to be feted like Lord Ganesha every time he scores a century and his failures are over looked because Gods can’t be criticized in India. We must treat heroes with respect and please Mr. Sharad Pawar should be aware that all heroes are not Maharashtrian’s.

He stands high in the middle of the forest, Last light of the sun fades, On the trees and there he grows taller and taller. All alone he listens to the Bird song Blue and white birds sing On the treetops, inside the coves. The stream also starts singing And the young moon dances to the tune With the white clouds. And he grows and grows With the breeze that blows across the ocean Bringing along the sweet smell From the alien land.

all those people who are complaining that Ganguly was not a match winner should have a look at the following facts.
The facts make it very clear that not only was Ganguly a match winner but also the finest captain to have ever played for India

LOL, u writing about 1998, agreed he was good player till 2000 when the ICC one days were harsher on fast bowlers and they were not allowed to bowl bouncers at all, this was modified in 2000 and from 2001 Ganguly's downfall came.
Take the case of ICC World Cup 2003, Ganguly scored 465 runs, 330 runs Ganguly scored in 3 matches against Kenya and Namibia and the rest 135 runs in 8 Matches against the rest of the teams like Australia, Pakistan, England, Sri Lanka, New Zealand etc.
So you see what happened after ICC allowed fast bowlers to bowl bouncers. Ganguly lost his confidence and became a minnow basher.

Sameer! I agree it's time for Ganguly to hang his boots.Nevertheless, let us not forget his contribution as a match winner and as the finest captain.
In view of his contribution to Indian cricket S.C.Ganguly should be allowed to play in the Test series against Australia and retire gracefully.
I just wanted to highlight that he was a match winner who enabled India to win the 1997 Sahar Cup (Canada)& the 1998 Independence Cup (Bangladesh) versus Pakistan
He was the man of the series and man of the match in both the tournaments and his performance was exceptional as a batsman against a quality pace attack which included the likes of aquib javed, mohammad zaid, abdur razzak, wasim akram and waqar younis

What's wrong in scoring runs against Namibia and Kenya. Kenya was a semi finalist. Not everyone scores against Australian attack. Tell me, does Ricky Ponting ever face McGrath and Brett Lee? Dada is the best.

My god thank u for telling me, i didnt knew Kenya was finalist and had beaten Australia and New Zealand in league matches and had reached Semi-finals, ops sorry i mean without playing against Aus/NZ they reached semis, if Aus/NZ wouldnt have given them points by not playing they wouldnt have been there.
Anyways as expected Ganguly's fan mentality is runs against kenya and namibia is equal to runs against Australia/SA etc.
everybody is saying dada should retire or sack. but y evrytime always targeted. sachin, rahul and laxman also has failed to deliver. y dey are not getting sack. we knw dat youngster has win odi series but wht abt the last odi match. we should remember that cricket is gamble whtever can b happen. dada also get sum respect. this thing im not saying bcoz im dada fan but as a cricket lover. evrybody should understand dat 1 day youngster will also older and senior.

this can happen only in India, bhai.Ganguly should immediately do affidavit to change his surname from ganguly to gangulkar and resi from kolkata to kolhapur, then you will see the magic, this magic is called jai maharastra majic
Allways Motivating youngsters,Inspiring them with his fighting spirit alone,Bounced back in the team thrice after being kept out for so long time, very intelligent (remember the south africa tour where not a single player performed except Ganguly),Bowling very economicallly, are some of great virtues of Sourav Ganguly which will allways be in heart of Many Many indians. You can keep Dada out of indian team but he will allways be in hearts of many indians.Great Job Dada
