A grave unjustice has been done by singling out Saurav Ganguly for poor performance in the Lanka series. Selection of a team should be made on the basis of performance during the last 10 or 15 matches. Although all the senior players failed in Sri Lanka, in earlier matches Ganguly's performance was much better. In fact, he got the coveted prize of best Asian cricketer for the year 2007 on the basis of his last year's super show.
If senior players are to be phased out, let the computer decide whose performance during the last ten matches was worst and not any biased opinion.

If you want the computer to decide then just look at the "icc player ratings for tests". You will find ganguly is lowest amoungst fab 4 plus sehwag.

Statistics and computers will and can reveal nothing.
Sehwag is unpredictable - one day he can score a brilliant 300, other day he will flop cheaply. But if I were the captain of Team India, I will never ever go out to play without Sehwag in my team. My reasoning: There is no guarantee of a win with 6 Dravids or 6 Sachins in the side. There is always a possibility of a win, with just one Sehwag, even if the possibility may actualize once in a while only.
Ganguly's tally of runs in the last 13 tests and average look healthy. But what about his attitude, fitness and fielding? Does he inspire other players with his batting? Does he play for team win or sealing his own place in the side?
Dravid's tally of runs and average are inferior to Ganguly's. He might have been victim of a few wrong umpiring decisions and that might have spoiled his figures. But these things apart, does Dravid bring cheers to the fans and fellow players in a positive way? Can he ever come out of his shell of "safety first" and obsession with defence?
Laxman's average is gloated. He comes in to bat at No.6 and is cunning enough to expose the tailenders to much of the bowling, he himself remaining not out and thereby increasing the average.
It is said we eat to live and not live to eat. In Sachin's case, records mean everything, even more team's fortunes.
The spirits of the five seniors (Kumble included) is so dismal in recent times, they just need to go.
Only Sourav is being victimised out of fab-four ie.Sachin,Dravid & VVSLaxman have been let off!Sachin is now living off his FIXED DEPOSIT of past glory for long time.Laxman looks unsure & only Dravid made few runs in Sri Lanka!Sourav is being singled out for unfair treatment.Now he should quit & get into BCCI politics thru CAB slowly & get these guys who played dirty with him!!That looks the only comeback way for Sourav - politics!!!

I agree with the stand that the selectors have taken by dropping Ganguly from Irani trophy. It does not mean the end of the road for him he has made come back in the past and surely can do it again but this time he has the age factor working against him. I feel sorry for him as other likes sachin and rahul also failed during the sri lanka series but looking the recent record for saurav 2 50's in last 50 outings doesnt say much of his current form. Hope he bounces back. Again board and selectors should be looking hard at sachin and dravid as well. they havent done much in the recent past to make a strong claim and hold onto their postions in the test team.

Dey wer all sleepin 4 ten years when ganguly averaged 30 against aust, sa, pak, wi from 1996 to 2005 in TEST CRICKET n remained in the TEST side because of politics n jagmohan dalmiya. These bongs did not feel wrong when ganguly dropped kumble from one dayers in favour of his pet bhajji and there r other players too like robin singh who was dropped after takin 5wkts in a one dayer n was dropped in next. Rao, today whether Sachin is in or out doesn't makes big difference because any ball can give him injury. One hard ball hit at the right place he will be out for the entire series. Hahahahaha shamless people not ready to go out until u throw them out.Actually BCCI is scared of MNS, so let the ball did the magic.
BCCI should be kicked like anything , its totally shit to hear that DADA is again left out, dont know wat has happened to the selection team, its not that if he was not able to play well in a series so he might nort play good cricket further, he is a fighter and has always shown his fighter spirit and has comeback with good cricket before, but u cant make a person sit if he was not able to play well in a series, I would also tell that give him a chance in ODI too and keep faith in him, he can take the team to newer heights, and I am very angry with dhoni I would kick his ass anytime I got a chance, he is the culprit behind DADA's left-out, I also agree that Dhoni is a good player but he cant be a good captain, Dhoni, u just remember every dog has his day, today is yours but u are really going to suffer, its just the start lets see what happens further, DADA is DADA, DHONI u are just a GHADA.

Dada's days are over, now he is not even fit for the Irani Trophy. For dada we can organize a veterans cup along with fellow colleague Dravid, Laxman , Kumble and Sachin wait few more weeks.

abe tu kya janta hai indian cricket team ke bare main Sachin , Ganguly & Dravid is the best . Yeh aaj kal ke chujhe kya kheleinge be. Bhool gya jab ye teeno kitne match win kiya hai .
Once Tendulkar, Ganguly and Dravid were the strength of Indian team now they are not treated well ! When they lost form they must be motivated, given break to return back like how Australian team does for its players, why they should announce we have dropped, no chance etc
All said and done! U just cannot ignore him leave aside removing him unceremoniously like this! It is painful irritating and unfair. Has it got some thing to do with the come back of Jagmohan Dalmia back in the game at CAB? It smells like that. If it is so, BCCI, u are too obvious and u too!
