Drop Laxman, bring in Dada.
by down_under on Sep 13, 2008 04:56 AM  | Hide replies

This will solve all our problems.
Then wait for Tendulkar to have have tennis elbow/hamstring/any other illness, and then bring in Laxman.

Dada played quite well over the last year. Why dodn't ICC consider him for an award? Do you think there is some conspiracy? Should we approach ICJ?

he won the best asian cricketer of the year.but dhoni performed well as a player and captain.ganguly scored the highest runs for india in both tests and one day international for india last year.in one format he was the second in the world for the year 2007.despite good performance they still wont select him.

It right to drop Ganguly.
by Sam Raj on Sep 12, 2008 10:10 PM  | Hide replies

Media making lot of fuss about Drvid & Sacin, but in reality Ganguly is weaker player of all four and Kaif is now more matured who could fit into test team at no. 6 slot.

Selectors are very right in dropping Gangs from the team, as they want to introduce one new face in the playing 11 to start the transition. Selectors can not drop Sachin as he is one of the alltime great players in the world and stands right with Lara, Pontings etc...even if he had a poor series that doesn't matter. Now Dravid who is one of the most trustable batsman in the line up and he too stands right with the greats of modern cricketers in the modern era and he is just a innings away from to be back to his usual WALL act. Finally the chaoice between VVS and Ganguly, even a school kid says that VVS far more better player than ganguly on any day of the week (forget about stats test cricket about playing the situation as well), moreover all these three stars are under mid thirtees and VVS being yengest of all at 33. Gangs is now almost 37 years and which is a good to be retiring age from the cricket for his kind of modest player......

Gangs just fooling himself to divert the attention of the media and the fans......Selectors are not dummies and some of them are great Indian crickers in their era and they know as much as what Gangs or Media (Star TV folks) knows about cricket and there are no politics nor the regional bias involved in droping Gangs..So stop bugging and hang up boots.

yeah its right coz ur godfather greg chapell started this trend.dont fool urself man.dravid eats 300 balls and then scores 50 runs.hes too slow.ganguly has always played with great confidence.dravid has no confidence left within him anymore.he plays so slowly and fears thst he'll lose his wicket.laxman is indeed a good player.why they wont drop sachin.is he divinity?????.will they earn the wrath of god if they drop sachin.what r u saying man.nobody is exempted.hes not above the game.if things can apply to ganguly why not sachin.infact sachin fared the worst in the recently concluded test series against srilanka.just see the past performance since the time ganguly returned to the side.get ur facts right, then bark out here.or else worship ur godfather greg chappell and other chamchas in the bcci.thats the best u can do.

Test cricket requires stayers on the Wicket and only Dravid is capable of doing it. If Dravid does not score or stay the Team has been in doldrums. Statstics prove that, fine. Dropping Ganguly is really questionable. Why don't the Selectors apply the same yardstick for Sachin?? India won a test series in West Indies without Sachin. Only the last series Ganguly did not perform. The Contribution of Dravid & Ganguly is equally good compared to Sachin's contribution to Indian Cricket. Even these two deserve nothing less than Sachin. Probably the media wants them out.

Vikram, do you want watch or watch cricket beacuease of Saurav plays cricket...please make this clear yourslef...nobody saying Saurav hadn't done good things to Indian cricket which he had as a skipper(even when he was skipping the side he was droppable man from playing 11), the thing is you need to move on, bloody 37yr old player who can't move on th efield, can't bowl and can save situation, nor he has a great deffence game....see things have to be come to an end, and one should accept that, if Gangs keep trying to stay in the team he is more likely damaging his repution rather doing anything....I am very surprised why is he still trying to fight to get into side...what does he want to prove....he is just fooling himself....instead say the word, boss I have played for good 10 years and I captained team for more than 5 years and acheived what I could do...and I am walking away to give the opertunity to the younger generation....with comments of playing for another 2yrs he is thinking selfishly....which shouldn't be the charecter of Sourav...Thanks.

Very fair judgement. This was eminent and was round the corner. Lachu would contribute more to the team & better equipped to handle both pace and spin and offcourse, no doubt that Rahul & Sachin will be back in form soon. They are Greats anyways. Its a matter of a single good innings and spend more time in the middle.

bunch of jokers-the selctors
by vikram on Sep 12, 2008 07:20 PM  | Hide replies

let me tell u something.why is it that they always want ganguly out of the team.why not sachin dravid laxman who didnt perform well.one damn aussie greg chappell started this legacy,a damn trend which stuck with ganguly like a curse.since then hes been treated this way.i'll ask everyone out there, around 3 -4 years ago would anyone of u even dream ganguly could be dropped from the side.its just cheap politics and the trend started by that aussie greg chappell.until greg chappell everything was okay, what happened after that.sachin and others have performed so bad in the past but they never dropped sachin.why so?????.its the cheap mentality these selectors have.the young team which they talk about just tell me who started this young team trend, ganguly started this trend.if u see ganguly performed much better than many in the side since his return to the side.despite this the selectors dont want him in the side.this is so harsh.this guy writes perform.my god we would have lost have not ganguly played a good knock against south africa.its kinda sick why these selectors change their colours like chameleons.atleast they should have retained ganguly in tests.u cant expect young players to do well i tests.the selectors think if u have a young team its kinda cool.in the past indian team was tormented by the old team tag.its very immature on the part of the selectors.now they expect mohammad kaif or wasim jaffer to take gangulys place.what a shame.

It is the lobby that works behind the players to be in the team.Truly our selectors have no or never use any kind of yard stick to retain or to throw the players when they are out of form.Aussie selectors have ignored likes of David Boon,Steve waugh when they lost the rythm and form.Of all the teams the Cricket Australia uses it's yard stick for anyone .
When we have selectors from all corners of nation we can have talented team. Most of the time selectors hail from Mumbai or from certain regions.Regional sentiments as well as regional favours defenitely ruin the upcoming talented cricketers. All the bigs like Sachin,Dravid,Laxman,Kumble should be removed then only we can see and try future cricketers.BCCI always wants old horses inspite of their continuous poor form.BCCI should buy Aussie selectors so that our cricket will come on the track.

we cannot copy the aussie selectors.they have their way,we have ours.its test matches we r taking about, not one day international.all the young guns havent performed well in the tests.look at yuvraj singh.why aint he in the side.coz of lack of performance.whatever it is u cant rule out the seniors, atleast in tests.u need experienced players in test matches.the aussie team too has many seniors in both forms of the game.selectors r going way beyond their normal aura.this aint necessary.why always target ganguly.its become a ritual in their eyes.first they kick him out, then hes reinstated and despite performing well hes still being treated shabbily.why cant they wait for sometime.he will eventually retire.replacing ganguly with some idiot wont do any good to the team.u wanna compare ganguly with mohammad kaif and wasim jaffer.no way.they r no match to his talent.

Selectors should find a better way of saying good bye to such senior selectors like Ganguly and person like kiran More who has never done a good to the indian team should think and speak before while speaking against respectful players like Ganguly. I wish kiran more could have been kicked out of the indian cricket committee.

You are absolutely right Mr. NIRMAL,
KIRAN Babu should be kicked out from ICL also.

How dare he talked about great Sourav.
Kiran has done a mischief during his tenure with BCCI with, Mr. Abhijit Kale.
Being a responcible captain the Great Sourav has protect Mr Abhijit Kale.

This is the only reason, from nonsence Kiran, I am sure done such kinds of foolish comments towards great Sourav

very rightly said
dravid and sachin also gave a bad performance then why was he the only one to be dropped out of the team. dravid fell to mendis in all the inns in the test series and sachin was not even 1% near to his class then why only ganguly
and it is hard to digest that he was dropped from a series in which he came with a mind set when his dad was fighting death in London.

Is eastern region surpress Mumbai in terms of producing dynamic captain?
by SANTANU SARKAR on Sep 12, 2008 03:14 AM

Hello frnds, till a decade ago, mumbaikars were enjoying the previledge of being named the captain of indian cricket team and their performance as a captain is not at par if we ignore certain events like gavaskar winning chamions trophy in australia or wadekars dream run in WI & eng,Now after gunguly's karsmatic performance as a captain under whose regin new players emerged and for the first time Indian team broke the barrier of regionalism and played like a unit, now after his deperture it is again our Dhoni another Eastian under whom India won T-20 world cup and triseries in australia,so is it ok to say that now eastern region is the new powerhouse as per as producing captain is consern?
